Me and LL haven't actually met.

@Kay20 was in Berkeley, and used to organize stuff, but doesn't post anymore.

Ok, I know that the SF group meets in SF, but I don't think at 19yo Cal freshman is likely to travel 1hr at the asscrack of dawn on Saturday to support a team he's never heard of.

But maybe... I'll see if I can convince him to visit McTeague's

Summary; Train travel over Christmas and the New Year is limited, particularly in Scotland. This points towards an English airport and the game on 2 January. Or hire a car. Or come at another time.
Thank you. I did live in England from 2004/05, so I am comfortable using the train and bus system (I'm sure some things have changed, but in general I think I have it covered). I guess I didn't remember the full extent of the "holiday schedule."

There are several reasons I chose this particular week to come:
-Due to the holidays, we already have some time off work, so we can get more time off with fewer vacation days used.
-The BPL schedule this week is such that there are games on 26 & 28 of Dec and 2 Jan, meaning that we can see more than one game (we will travel to another city for the second/third games)
-Everton had a home game during this week
-We won't have to spend Christmas with either of our families :-P

I could also try the week of 1-7 Feb since the schedule would also allow us to see multiple games, and guarantees a home Everton game. I will have to consider these options.

Just dropping this in from our trek made last September, basically the same kind of scenario you are contemplating, though we'd never been to the UK. Hope some of it may be of use, and that you have the kind of wonderful experience we had.

What a trip. Let the club know you're coming over, really - it's not like dealing with the typical NFL franchise.

I've looked again, and the train companies haven't announced their plans for Christmas 2015 and New Year 2016. It's likely that there won't be any trains in England and Scotland on Christmas Day 25 December and Boxing Day 28 December and none in Scotland on New Year's Day too. For the other days, we'll just have to wait and see.

Here is some further information about fixtures. The dates and times of the FA Cup games depend upon the draw and the games selected for TV.

Saturday 5 December FA Cup 2nd Round for League 1 and 2 teams
Monday 7 December Draw for FA Cup 3rd Round introducing Premier League and Championship teams

Saturday 9 January FA Cup 3rd Round with TV games on Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night
Monday 11 January Draw for FA Cup 4th Round

Saturday 30 January FA Cup 4th Round with TV games on Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and Monday night
So it's possible that some Tuesday and Wednesday Premier League fixtures may have to be changed.
Tuesday 2 February Premier League fixtures
Wednesday 3 February Everton v Newcastle
Saturday 6 February Premier League fixtures - with TV games on Sunday and Monday

After Christmas, Europa League matches recommence on Thursday 18 February 2016. For the teams involved in a Thursday game, weekend Premier League games will be played on Sunday or Monday. Teams that may be involved are West Ham, Southampton, Tottenham and Liverpool, and possibly teams eliminated from the Champions League too.

I would also highly recommend going to an away match. Our away crowd is so boss.

Premier League stadiums only offer seated areas. But the away fans like to stand and sing all match - it's an amazing atmosphere.

You should know that away fans may be given the worst seats in the ground, which are often sold at full price.

And the away fans may face the hostility of the home fans on the way to the ground, in the ground and leaving the ground too.

I have to say I've only been to one; at Wolves. Fans there were nice (granted we aren't exactly rivals) and they allotted great seats for the away fans.

Does anyone know what time the players arrive before the games? Would like to try and get a few autographs/pictures. Thanks in advance.

Everton v Watford; The Players’ Parade will once again be in operation for the 2015/16 season which allows our loyal and devoted supporters the chance to get autographs and pictures with their favourite Everton stars. Situated towards the Bullens Road side of the Park End car park, players usually arrive two and half hours before kick-off, which is at 3pm tomorrow.

Want to watch the Blues warm up? The players will head out onto the pitch for their pre-match training at around 2:20pm.

And StubHub is back in action for ticket sales.
