I will always remember my first experience at Maine Road as we entered the territory by coach and was bricked upon our arrival. City in them days were quite a decent team and were Wembley bound for the League Cup if my memory serves me right.

On this occasion we were taught a football lesson as we suffered a 3-0 defeat.

What memories do you have against the blue half of Manchester?

Being a Toffee of Manc origin I remember coming to GP for a night game v City but rather than travelling solo on the train as I did most weeks then I booked on a City coach with some lads from school. Big mistake....it was full of Cool Cats all tooled up and it was at the time of the widespread riots. The coaches had an escort through Toxteth for some reason and every window went through. I split from my mates at the turnstiles and sat in the Bullens - I can't even remember the score but I think City won as it was mayhem outside after. I was trying to get to the coaches without appearing to be a stray Manc and at the same time trying not to be obviously a Toffee when on the coach.....all hell let loose and it was going off all around. I managed along with a few City fans who clearly weren't there for the bother to jump on a double decker parked up by the cemetery but within seconds the driver opened the doors and order everyone off - at that split second a Blue ran past the door and swung a bottle which the bloke in front of me took full on the bridge of the nose....the green bus became red in seconds. As a young teenager it's fair to say I shat myself ( not literally)!
In the return at Maine Road the same year Everton ran smock in the Platt Lane Stand which was full of Junior Blues who were City's pre- teenage supporters.

Best memory (and worst) of Maine Road was the Clive Thomas semi.....Blues climbing the floodlights which were outside the stand in them days and leaping a good 15-20 foot onto the stand roof just to get in.

Remember one game at Goodison 77. My first and only time in the Main Stand. They were actually top of the league when the match kicked off. I think Asa Hartford scored for them. I know Big Bob equalised.

Maine Rd.

Milk Cup replay.... not many of them around that night

Bobby Mimms Debut, dismantling of fast food places behind platt lane

Last Game of Season, Kendall Going Back There, we had a team of midgets, played at 950mph and reamed em.

Middle Eastlands....

Their end, Cahill in Injury time yds away from us, Lad leaping around in bright yellow coat on MOTD

Our End ..... 2-0 and we spent feck all !!

Remember Inchy notching for them in front of us in those old wooden seats(was it Platt Lane?)the 5-0 getting drenched in the tempory stand in the corner and the mancs telling us we should have gone christmas shopping!!first ever memory the cup replay in 1981,Bobby f*cking McDonald!!,better memories at the new stadium, lets hope for more today eh?!!!

Was there a few years earlier when Rodney Marsh and Denis Tueart took the piss out of us can't remember whether it was 2-1 or 3-1 but they hammered us.

Walking back to the station was an experience a long line of Evertonians trudging along one pavement shadowed by a long line of City fans on the opposite pavement, only the police on horseback between the 2 prevented a full on riot.

Routine for an away game actually.

Went there lots in 70s and 80s. Quite scary in the 70s gangs everywere. Big one I remember was cup match replay 6th round match I think in eighties. 13000 blues when you were put in the Kippax. Think we got beat 3-1. Punch up with the police in the ground. Outside walk back to the station. I think there were 3 big mobs of blues walking around Manchester that night. No City to be seen. Similiar thing when we took 15000 to Cup match at Old Trafford when they scored in last minute. Biggest mob of Everton fans I've seen on the walk back to Victoria station. When we reached city centre a big mob appeared and we thought here's United. Turned out to be another mob of Everton.

Looking back I'm glad those mad days are over.

The first of the 3 quarter final games, remember the panic every time Francis Lee ran at the defence
The Semi replay against **** ,the coin throwing in the Kippax .....so much for "friendly derby's"

was at that game, ended up on a random bus ride around moss side, dont know what i was playing at just jumped the first bus outside the ground, and away i went didnt have a clue were it was going, just for a bit of an adventure, it was one scary looking place Moss side, eventully i asked the driver to put us off as near to the station as it was going, which wasnt very close , i got sussed by some manc lads on the bus, and managed to bluff it out till the bus stopped, basiclly just fronted them smacked the biggest fooker and stood over them seated at the back, telling them what i was going to do to them , the bus stopped and i bolted it before they got brave, only to jump off right in the middle of a massive crew of there lads, had to walk with them back to the station looking like i belonged, god that was one scary walk, one of there older black lads was well onto me and my mate ,but give him credit he didnt take an easy target like an awful lot of teams would have done, i was only about 16 at the time, just told us to run when the cops finally arrived, he could have hammerd us easy if he wanted, but it was easy picking and he was after bigger and harder than us two, only other place it happened to me was at leeds in a cup game around the same time,Had loads of trouble over the years with them over the years, but have got a few mates that support them as well, not a bad bunch pre arabs
