The composure impressed me for the finish. Something we have lacked in front of goal since the pre-injury Yak

It's a bit too early to say really.

His first touch when receiving the ball wasn't always the best, and he got caught in possession more than once... but what a f*cking finish. That was the kind of goal ONLY a genuine striker can score. We've been missing that since first season Yak, so fingers crossed Jelavic is what his goal teased today: the proper striker we've been crying out for.

Don't under estimate what a excellent finish that was. It was a world class finish it really was. He's got some adapting to do yet but we could have a real striker on our hands there for next season... Maybe even for a cup final!

This, this and more this this! I love the Straq and I want Anichebe/Velios et al to fufill there potential, but Jelly looks like he has a touch of class that we have missed for too long, c'mon Jelly......

A lot of people on here ****ging off his touch. i thought his touch looked good, had good awareness, showed great movement (notably for the goal), won almost everything in the air (against king and kaboul is no mean feat) and took his chance superbly. really impressed with the lad .... just hope he doesn't go the same way Jo did after his home debut lol

I'd just like to say now people are comparing Osman to iniesta, I suggested he be next captain and I stand by it

Hey Bryan, not being a git (think your one of the best posters on here!) cant see Ozzie being a captain really, solid player and loyal toffee no doubt but not really a leader for me, tho I do see a Scholes/Giggs type role as he ages. What did you make of Jelly today?

Promising mate, yet to be converted to the messiah like praise some people have for him. A goal and nearly a free kick is a brilliant debut, plus some of his hold up play was cracking!

Yep, I agree 100%. TBH just hoping for a 'centre foward' for Jelly. I love Straqs workrate, Velios/Hope have mind boggling promise and if we can ever get Anichebe fit and focussed, I think he could be immense! But right now, we need a player who is a real threat, can keep the ball and will 'put in a shift' and Jelly looks the part thus far. Hope he can improve on this promising performance...
