Bought from auction, full of holes, decided to sell it and only drove it twice. It then got nicked and it wasn't insured because I was planning to sell. Lost all my £ and ended up with this instead

I can't believe that we have got this far in and nobody had a Vauxhall Nova as their first car. It still is my favourite car I have EVER owned. F204 KMB. It was only a 1.2, in a metallic light blue, a colour i haven't seen on a Nova before or since. It felt like it went like stink, never seemed to get injured, regardless of what I did. I put it through a 740 spin over a roundabout once, stupidly, it was late, it was raining and I pulled the handbrake, bounced up over and off the curbs (caused my mate to start smoking again after 8 months, thought if he survived that he was invincible) Not even a scratch on the car, I just drove off. Done a 180 out of a roundabout and it parked right in between a sign and a lampost, bout a foot from each one, the adrenaline was unreal.

I did a bit of D.I.Y modding with it, running a bit of flexi hose from the air-intake to the filter, it clearly made the car cooler and run much faster.................

It broke down on me twice, and after the first time, I carried a hammer in the boot, second time it never started, I hit the starter motor with the hammer, problem solved.

Vauxhall Nova. Forever in my heart, my greatest car ever.

Just as a side note, it had really thin tyres, which, incidentally made it a dream to handle in the snow. (Though My astra now isn't too bad) My Insignia is **** though, due to the electronic handbrake and ABS. If it's snowing, I ALWAYS pick up the keys to the Astra.

Current car is a 2008 Saturn (Vauxhall/Opel) Astra. I think GM only sold about 10K total Astras in the states. Bought in the GM tire fire of 2008 when it looked like GM was going out of business for $13000 ($3000 off + $1000 off due to the GM Card). It was built in Europe and wasn't Americaned for our fat asses either. Love that car, especially in the snow where I was able to climb hills and get to work with the roads covered in 9in of snow.

1989 Ford Escort LX wagon. Paid $3000 for it, spent about $4500 in repairs in the 4 years I had it. There was something lovable about the car though. It was fun to drive which is why I got it fixed after the transmission blew and got it fixed again after the transmission blew 1000 mi after the warranty on it expired.

Not the car I had but this picture is exactly like it.

A Nova was the only car I wanted when I was a teenager but I wanted the 1.4 SR model ( If I remember correctly ) in a yellow colour with a black roof.

*could have been 1.3 SR *

For some bizarre reason I bought one of these, a 2000 Citroen Xsara 1.4, for my first car. I was doing a bricklaying apprenticeship at the time and thought to myself "i can get loads of tools in there for when I do foreigners". Idiot. It was awful, the gearbox went swiftly along with the drive shaft, as did most other things. The suspension resembled a worn out mattress from Ikea.

I crashed it in to a ditch sideways at 50mph whilst delivering for Dominos, 7 months after purchase.

Weirdly none of the 4 airbags it was supposed to have went off.

My second car was better, a 2000 1.6 Ford Fiesta Zetec-S. It was great fun to drive, the acceleration was great and it handled like a go-kart. Pity I forgot to put oil in it and the engine broke. I had it for 4 years until it failed it's MOT with about £800 of repairs required.

Same colour as this, but not as flashy. Bloody terrible it was. NO working heater, no rear seatbelts and a MW radio.
As much as I love Ford, I've never driven an 80's model with a fully working heater.

Aside, the wife's auntie has an Escort Mexico in storage.

Had both 1.3SR then the 1.4SR when I traded the 1.3 in, both excellent cars but would have absolutely loved the Sport version that would have been epic.

BTW my cars were. Mini Clubman in royal blue, mini GT modded to 1340cc with twin webber (**** off a shovel doesn't describe it :D). 1.1 Fiesta, 1.6 Escort estate, Nova 1.3SR, Nova 1.4SR, Cavalier GSi, 5 series BMW, MGB. Ford Falcon EA, Ford Laser, Daihatsu Charade, Honda Odyssey, Honda Odyssey, Subaru WRX. I think that's it.
