Financial Fair Play

Financial Fair Play is pointless. Did you see they clubs they fined recently?

I didn't see any "fair play" in it, except for fining clubs for matters that should be dealt with via different avenues. There was no PSG, Anzi, Chelsea or Man City near the list.

That was ONE step of the FFP regarding undeclared large debts, it is not the final or even the largest part of FFP.

Would need to be agreed internationally, at least across UEFA, I can't see the Premier League or the FA making one whilst Spain, Italy and France aren't. Even so would the richer clubs agree to it, or would they threaten to break away and create their own league again?

Club salary cap rather than player salary cap, it's perfectly legal and could be introduced EU wide.

It won't though, because agents among other people stand to make too much money from signing their players to big contracts.

Ok I was way off... but, still something needs to be done. What about a reasonable Salary Cap? Someway the game needs to be fair and equal for everyone.

I disagree.

Take Manchester United, they have spent Years building a vast commericial operation, its "their" money, they should be able to spend it how they want.

Equally Manchester City owners wish to spunk their own personal wealth on players, thats their choice.

Im fairly sure owners like the Glaziers would love a salary cap and also some sort of global transfer budget, it would mean more profit for them.

The majority of Everton fans think this FFP is superb, cos we are skint, but as City have shown, by signing multi million sponsorship with themselves, its a pointless exercise driven by greed.

Why shouldn't players be able to take the biggest chunk of money out fo the game? Their the stars of it.

A Club salary cap will still handicap us. If it's say 50% of turnover then we can't compete in either squad size or top wages.

For me the only thing thats fair to the sides like Man Utd who makes their own money, but also helps the game, would be rules on squad size and an increase in the homegrown rule.

For me a max squad size of 22 with 10 coming through the academy or even better of British origin!

Cant see either ever happening.

I dont think we will ever see the players accept a maximum wage. It's fraught with issues and I think clubs need to be run better and live within their means rather than players being punished. I don't really think the top,top salaries are the problem, it's the massive amount of average players earning 60,70k a week.

What I find difficult to understand is Real Madrid. They spend 80 million on Ronaldo and previous huge amounts on other big signings sanctioned by bank loans written off by the king of Spain.

This being the same Spain facing a financial crisis, maybe even in need of a euro bail out sometime soon??? WTF

Real Madrid will never be bankrupt, when they had serious money issues about 10 years ago. The Madrid council bought there training ground for over 200 million.

Brennan, I should add that I think FFP should be targeting unfair investment and not just debt. A. Madrid are a club that needs sorting out by UEFA, but some of the smaller clubs that they fined is a bit rough considering what other clubs are doing.

I want to see UEFA targeting massive conflicts of interests like Man City having everything sponsored by family friends. That is the biggest issue for me. I guess we will just have to wait and see...

City and Chelsea will both be affected by FFP as it stands in the next few seasons.

How pissed off would you be if you supported a different spanish team then Madrid or Barca. Even their TV money is split heavily in their favor!
