First I'd like to open the topic with the suggestion that maybe Moyes will want to sign Fernandes, because on the official site we're told that Gravesen and Wessels are leaving Everton - Fernandes not being brought up leads me to think that maybe he will stay.

Now that the season is over, I think its the real time to assess Fernandes commitment and contribution to our side. I think he started off badly, but as the season went on there were times where he was the only one in the game with a bit of spark for us, the kind of spark needed to get us vital goals or vital chances which were missed.

He has also proved to be a good option from set pieces and might take some of the creativity weight off of Artetas shoulders.

When it comes to defensive duties, maybe its just something he needs to work on. He doesnt always track back and when he does, he doesnt usually make the best attempts to win the ball.

He is a young player, who, without a doubt, has some great technical qualities that we may be lacking. Personally, I'd like us to sign him - perhaps for lower than Valencia bought him for. Not another loan spell, because then I think he will get the feeling that hes just a mercenary.

I havent yet seen his performance against Newcastle, but from the live commentary it seemed as though he made a good contribution to the win today.

What are your thoughts? I think getting him here along with a decent defensive midfielder and we could have a really good passing midfield.

After a slow start properly because of the trouble in Spain and the lack of fitness,he has lately started to show a bit of form,on his day I think he has the potential to become a real star and if we are to progress is the type of player we should be attracting .But whether we can either buy him or keep him on loan next season with an option to buy like Peanuts remains to be seen Moyes could work on his defending but the fee is the stumbling block as we need other players as well so I guess its what Dave thinks is a priority if it was me I would sign him today.(y)

Ultimately just not good enough. Has improved of late but still not consistent enough to warrant a £7m upwards price tag. The last game probably summed him up, good in stages then gives the ball away cheaply.
Also for the price tag there is much better out there than this lad who seems content to go from club to club to club without ever producing the kind of consistency to warrant a permanent place either at a club or in the 1st 11.

(TXBill dont bother responding, your on ignore)

He is by far good enough, he was coming back from injury when he started playing for us, and the past few matches he has been great, his free-kicks, shots and corners are all better than artetas, his passing is great, especially with skillful players like pienaar, arteta and yakubu around. Today was a true performance of what he can do and we know he can do better too, as we saw from him last season.

I thin we will sign him, especially the fact that he wasn't mentioned in the departing players. Also he got a full game today, and not subbed off...

If we can sign him for a decent price ( no more than 7m) then i'd have him. Anymore than that i dont think he is worth the risk.

I think he has a lot of potential and can be an awesome player for us. Sure he started off a bit slowly this year and didn't show much but as he got more settled in and up to full fitness his performances improved. Still has his downsides but hopefully if we sign him full time he can have a full pre-season here and show us what he is truly capable of next season.

Probably the best passer we have at the moment and can win a game for us with just one flash of brilliance. Thats just the kind of player we need.

i say no way! its not difficult to look good playing next to neville. i see him as worth about £4million. If we could get him for that then so be it, but the the figures bandied about in the press are way more. i know hes young but im just not convinced.

But in todays market, where crouch is 15 million, Darren Bent is 16 million etc... id say 10 million maximum...

Welcome mate (y)

Sign him.

It's simple really.

And the good news is that the naysayers will have a permanent target next season. (n)
