Look mate, you dislike the police, that's fine, I dislike taxi drivers, difference is one of them is trying their hardest (again, in general) to save innocent lives and protect the community. I just can't get the disdain towards them.

i dont dislike them, my grandad was a policeman..my wifes dad was a policeman(hmmm..im souding like the racist who claims to have loads of black friends lol) their job is very difficult and i agree most do a good job

i 'dislike' the lack of accountability, brutality and abuse of power

Seems a fair assumption based on the fact that again 99% of them do.

Why is everybody so anti an institution that protects and serves us, in the main, so well? Fcking annoys me so much.
They built that rod for themselves, when they allowed themselves to be used as a military arm for thatcher, it will take a long time in certain areas of the country to repair that image, its a cliche but the winning of hearts and minds is essential for a long term relationship with the public, certain US forces are making the same mistakes now, and it will have a huge long term negitive impact

the police don't really upset me all that much, but I can still see it in our society, and it has been passed down with even more spite to the next generation, relations between the police and the public shouldn't be ignored, the damage is long lasting, and this will have a hugely negative effect, no matter how many gun nuts tell you they had no choice.

I admire your romanticism but that's not why most police officers join the police. They join mainly because they are often not the brightest and this is the career that pays the most for the less academically minded.

That and they like the power.

That's not what he was getting at I think. Despite the reasons behind it, that basically is their job description in it's simplest form.

That may be why they join but they still try to fulfill their job description. The red mark over the police is often unfair towards the majority of officers.

Yeah but that's their job, it should be the minimum we expect.

My brother lost his job because SEVERAL police officers got up in court and told barefaced lies, god knows why..maybe to justify the original arrest or to fulfil a quota or out of some sadistic urge.

Their superiors must have known they were lies as well, the magistrate must have known they were lies too but none of that mattered. We have to trust the police right, just selflessly giving up their free time to protect us from people trying to kill us.

That's terrible, but I don't see what that's got to do with what Elong said.
