I'd like to see us play a 4-2-3-1 with Rodwell and Fellaini as the 2 defensive mids. But comparing them to Germany for example, where Khedira is the anchor and Schweinsteiger has more freedom, We could have them interchange roles. This requires a hell of a lot of time to develop an understanding and a lot of discipline. I think they both have it in them to do it though. It makes it harder for the opposition to pick up that way.

Something along those lines would be good for us. The difficulty that we'd have is that we'd need to use Cahill as the central player in the three. He's no Sneider or Ozil. We could try and switch Arteta inside with Tim tucked in like Kuyt or Muller. Because we'd have two anchors, it would give Coleman and Baines the opportunity to play as wing backs.

while not perhaps the most creative duo on the "defensive" side of the team, this is something we should build upon, taking account on age-factor as well. As I reckon, Moyes wants to build to the game through solid defence.

I think Rodwell and Fellaini as a midfield combination compliment each other perfectly.

I also think that they will be an awesome engine room for us in years to come.

However due to the speed of the league and their lack of game time together + their ages -- are they ready?

Do they need someone to sit behind them 'just in case' ?

Either way having those two as the engine room (if it works) would enable our full backs to get forward and also add more fluidity to our attacking play as we would be able to keep the ball.

Cause if it is, I'd be on the phone to Joey's agent sharpish telling him to prepare for preseason training with Everton.

What an insulting and derisory bid if true. I'd tell Fener that they just saw the price go up from 5M to 6M if they want Joey. If not, we'll take him back....and sell him to someone else for 4M.

Mean defences are made by mean defensive midfielders. We miss Carsley more than Lescott or Yobo in this respect

Everton had a club record amount of clean sheets in Premier League in season after Carsley left, so no, we don't miss him.

Schweinsteiger is also a deep lying playmaker who allowed Ozil to play high on the pitch and connect closely with front 3, neither Rodwell or Fellaini can't do it.

I said it last season, he's expendable and worthless to Moyes so a few million is about right.

Place it under the same bracket as Beckford and Yak.

I would imagine we'v had a couple of decent loan fees so far, plus saved wages and will get a final payment to complete/ make permanent the deal.

As long as he's not out of contract in the summer ???
