Why it doesnt work for jelavic:
Ive thought long and hard about this watched a couple of games back and heres how I see it.
When we are attacking Fellaini seems to have his back to goal all the time looking for the long punt.
He seemingly gets it from the back either Hibbert , Distin, Jagielka or Heitinga.
Once he gets it his back is always to goal and Jelavic is always within a 3 yard radius of him. Essentially stepping on eachothers feet.
Fellaini cant really turn with it so elects to play the short ball back into midfield or wide. Once this is done turns and heads for the box. Again within a sort distance of Jelavic.
Jelavic isnt getting any through balls at all.
The way we are playing is into fellainis head chest or feet... Then wide to Baines Mirallas and Pienaar. We arent putting anywhere near the smount of balls into the box as we should and also when we do thr target man seems to be Fellaini rather than Jelavic.
What im saying here is Jelavic has no space to make runs or drift away from
Defenders. Fellaini is so static in the middle that there is no space.
Normal target men look for the flick on to the second striker.... Fellaini doesnt he ALWAYS brings the ball down with his back to goal, no flick ons or through balls for Jelavic.
Thats how I see it
