Mosh says hi,

See us in january.

Looking at the transfer window as a whole it's been underwhelming but not catastrophic. We've signed an established PL CB of the sort we've desperately needed for years, a decent and experienced keeper who looks to be working well with our new GK coach, a midfielder for a relatively small sum who looks to be very good indeed, and a winger for an inflated price who, although he blows hot and cold, was a direct target of our manager. Then there's been the signing of a promising teenager most of us know nothing about, and a slightly desperate loan of a back up striker.

Effectively - if not in reality - these purchases have been funded by the sale of one of the most talented young footballers in the country for a record fee. The result is that we're probably a stronger overall squad than at the beginning of the window, although not emphatically so.

If it wasn't for the narrative of a 'game changing' summer that has sounded quite appealing over the past few months, we'd consider this as a regular, slightly frustrating, transfer window. Sadly, a couple of journalists and a couple of forum posters with club connections have perhaps overestimated what we would be able to achieve in terms of recruitment during this window. The club itself seems to have been naive and amatuerish in attempting to recruit higher caliber/status players and should be embarrassed enough to learn their lesson for the future.

The positives and progression are still evident: new manager, DoF, promising signs re. the stadium. But in a very strange transfer window where every PL club has financial muscle and every European club is keen to exploit it, we've been caught short this summer.

Top players want to play in europe and win things. We don't have European football and haven't won anything since 1995. Zenit and witsel took less money to go to Juve than we were offering because they win titles and compete deep into the CL most seasons. Sissoko went to spurs who have cl on offer. If we can get EL next season it'll be a massive help in attracting top players

I think people need to stop dreaming of spending Moshiris money until he actually invests some money into Everton. Everton can't spend Moshiris money whilst he is refusing to invest in the club.

he's not really allowed to. We've got money, but FFP has tied our hands behind our backs, so him investing to buy players really isn't a consideration as he can't. We need to suddenly become far more successful commercially or sell to buy. That's the point of FFP, to stop teams like us getting any further than we are by using money

with new manager, DOF and board this I guess isn't a surprise. it happened at united with Moyes and Woodward. The next window they spent 30 odd on mata, then 200m on other players.

hopefully lessons will be learnt quickly and from here to Jan there will be much planning done to make sure we get who we want in.

That's not likely with this squad. All I care about is the new stadium. I want to see progress made with that and if it isn't then serious questions need to be asked of Moshiri.

Tell that to City. If he was serious of investing in the team then he would find a way.

Supposedly no matter how much you hear about the football business and transfers in particular, nothing can ever prepare you for the sheer insanity and unprofessionalism when you actually go through it for the first time. For all the claims of experience at Arsenal, it has become abundantly clear that Moshiri never got close to any of the decision-making or actual action involved in running the club. Now he has to show that he can step up to be the main man, learn the business and turn the club around.

Hopefully he can do it but I still have reservations, all his business success has come from being a great number two to Usmanov. The next 12 months will show whether he has the skill and appetite to become successful in a strange and insane industry

Think he would've wanted 2 more (big money) signings to signal his intent. Brahimi and Sissoko would've done that (regardless of how good/bad you think those players are). It didn't happen, so plenty of doubters (and doubts) now. There's no excuses for next summer now (January is not a good time to buy). Stadium delivery can change current vibes, but lets wait and see if any comments are forthcoming.

And how exactly do you know he's refusing to invest? An assumption or fact with substance behind it?
