I am a little confused as to why the statement said 'major shareholder' not majority when Bill Kenwright was always referred to in the past as the majority shareholder.

Because people misunderstand the term majority. Last time Everton had a majority legal shareholder was True Blue Holdings Limited, but even then there was no majority beneficial owner.

I think the line in the statement is very telling..

'The Premier League has never been such a level playing field'.

I read that as transfer funds.

I read that line as: 'all clubs get funded enough money from the tv these day - dont look to me to top you up'.

No mate, about 85% of the shares are still held by 6 people on the assumption that Earl has gone and Kenwright and Woods have reduced their stakes.
