Player Valuation: £70m
James McFadden for me has been the most frustrating Everton player in years. He has ability, he scores sublime goals, what he doesn't do is take his chance regular.

This I believe is down to decision making and his lack of industry. Two bits of play yesterday when he brought the ball down was immense, and his finish was quality. Its not the first time he has given Boro a slice of his undoubted skill. Then there is the Goal of The Season last year against Charlton.

Problem with him is this. He is not a scrambler, he is not the sort of striker who is the Johnny on the spot like Yakubu, he hasn't the pace to match AJ. He hasn't the muscle and the drive that Anichebe has and he isn't great in the air like Vaughan is.

He's almost unplayable because where do you play him? And who do you play him with? He isn't going to be the lone striker. He isn't going to support the strikers when Cahill is available. He isn't going to play the wings when Arteta and Pienaar are available.

Personally, I would like to see him stay and really develop his game beyond the flicks and volleys. I want to see him pass when he should pass and shoot first time when he should shoot first time. I want him to be more aware of his team mates, and above all else be consistent.

However, if it wasn't for the ANC he would be sold already, and I fully expect him to be sold in the summer.

As I have said before and remember I gave you examples?

He can only improve his decision making through a run of games. He has got himself into a rut here, the small chances he gets he thinks he has to take on the world and produce something sublime to warrant a place the game after.

Faddy secured UEFA cup football for us last year with that goal and secured we are still in the competition. His goal vs Metalist was the turning point for us and i'll forever be grateful.

Oh absolutely, but I just don't have a position for him.

I think he will be sold in the Summer, because it would be good for him. Especially when we have 4 other strikers plus 2 or 3 more in the wings.

Why I feel sorry for Faddy

I could go back to the Rooney days. I remember he had a really good performance, scoring.... the next game Rooney was available again and McFadden was again dropped.

But ok, 2 seasons ago I remember he scored against Plymouth. Next game against Middlesbrough he was dropped to the bench in favour of Beattie & Bent.

But moving onto more recently when my memory will be better. Last season he scored in a 4-0 win over Luton. Next game Arsenal. He was on the bench again.

Another time he scored in a 2-0 win at Reading while playing upfront (Anichebe was injured), the next game against Boro Anichebe was fit so again, McFadden was out on the wing again - but at least he got a game due to injuries - well, until he was brought off in a dull 0-0 game for VDM.

Then a few weeks later, he scores a last minute belter against Charlton. Next up West Ham, guess who was on the bench?

Most recently he came one of the bench and scored against Blackburn recently. Did he start the next game or even get brought on of the bench? - Most people were surprised. I Wasn't.

If I could be bothered checking am sure theres plenty more examples.

Good player, great potential, choosing Everton was a bad decision for him.

Well why do you think Moyes doesn't play him more regular? Do you think its because Moyes like to play the percentages. Who is more likely to do the job. Like I said earlier, he doesn't have a position.

If that's the reason Ghost, do you think Moyes would have just offered a new contract?

If I was Faddy i'd tell him were to stick it.

Watch McFadden score for fun were ever he ends up.

He does have a position. Up front. Were he played consistently well for Scotland and for Motherwell- "He shot to fame during the 2002-03 SPL season, scoring 19 goals from 34 starts and winning the Scottish Young Player of the Year Award."

He hasn't had a position at Everton which has been his downfall. Hes been forced to play out wide. I'd like to see how well AJ would do right wing...

Hes a striker and until he gets given a run of at least 5 or so starts upfront then in my book, he has never been given a chance.

The problem we have is we have the best striker options i can remember and i reckon 1 will go in summer and if i had to choose i,m afraid i would let faddy go.
I agree with danny he picked the wrong club when he chose us sometimes it just does not work however hard you try

The way I see it, Moyes consistently picked Bent/Beattie ahead of McFadden.

Since they have obviously left. Why hasn't McFadden?

Danny I do agree to an extent. But I think when Moyes see Faddy not pass when he should pass, and not shoot when he should shoot, he must think well Yakubu is more likely to score, and looking at SSN today 39% of his chances are converted, and that's the best in the league so far this season.

Like I say, he plays the percentages and picks the side he feels is more likely to do well, and lets be fair, this season he hasn't got an awful lot wrong.

But I do see Faddy like Defoe, quality in abundance, but coming off the bench fails to impress. It must also come down to training ground performances too, and that is a factor that we as fans have no exposure too.

Am not saying he should start ahead of Yakubu. Far from it.

He should have started ahead of Beattie and Bent though, their chance conversion rates were definitely not as high as that (y)

What am saying is McFadden has never really been given the chance.

No, maybe not. But this is my memory of Faddy.

Incredible Goals.
Shocking decisions, and constantly losing the ball out on the wing.

So regardless of the chances he has been given, and regardless of whether or not he has got a game straight after wonder goals, he still hasn't impressed me often enough when he does play.

But Moyes must still want him, to offer him a new contract.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with him.

I'd like him to stay but wouldn't blame him one bit if an opportunity to play up front regularly for another club came along and he took it.

Similar to when Yakubu first started out for us, McFadden offers nothing else other than goals. He doesn't harry players and track back like AJ, he doesn't give opposition defenders a 'mare like Anichebe does, he can't beat or go past his man but will always try to do so.

Like GoD says his decision making is woeful at times, if he doesn't score he offers nothing else. I've seen yakubu work alot lately and some of his passes have been sublime. But with McFadden its just wonder goal or nothing.

I won't be too bothered to see him go, but I will look out for his new team's results and hope he's a sucess where ever he ends up. If he does go.
