Another great drive by Charles. Happy for Russell too. Mercedes mustn’t be able to believe how this has turned out for them

Can’t see the Merc getting close to the Ferrari anytime soon but the Red Bull seems in touching distant certainly in race pace and it’s proving reliable so they are still picking up solid points

It’s not inconceivable that Merc are in the hunt for a driver championship this year if their updates land in the next 2 races and deliver what they hope and expect.

Strangely, their leading the constructors championship

It's not really about upgrades at the moment - they don't understand the car well enough to get out of it what their simulations are saying should be possible. Until they do, they can't really work on performance upgrades, all the time their rivals can.

It's always more difficult to chase after a championship with a faster car than defend one with a solid and reliable package that you understand well. As things stand, I don't rate their chances at all.

I do like the commentary and on-air team. Knowledgeable without being po-faced or precious about it and good humoured without being Top bantz ladz. Those in charge of the football coverage could do worse than watch a few hours.
The English commentary coverage in the Middle East is absolutely dire.

Rather than just take the sky feed they have a couple of Aussie Drongos who I swear commentate from looking at Data screens rather than looking at actual pictures.

The co-comms is called Phil something or other generally goes "uh.... Errr... Uh... Uh.... Uh.... Ahhhhh... Yeah, errrrr....."

During qualifying, be it Q1, 2 or 3 one of them will get very excited that the first car out sets purple sectors.

I'll make a recording one day and stick it on YouTube. You lot have no idea how lucky you are.

Skys F1 coverage is the benchmark for all sports coverage imo, decent presenters and pundits and extremely detailed pre and post race shows.

That said the combo of Humphrey, Brundle, DC and Jordan at the BBC around 2009 era was my fav lineup.
I do miss Eddie Jordan on the coverage. He used to be good at bullying his way into conversations and they'd very rarely shut him down.

He did love himself a little too much, I dread to think what Ricciardo would be like if he ever moves over to media.

Eddie Jordan drove me mad towards the end. He’d go off on these weird rants that bore little resemblance to the conversation.
