Listening to that again. It showed Horner say we just want 1 racing lap. Minute later, decision made.
I can't see how that was anything other than a blatant fix.

They had 52 racing laps and Verstappen was over 10 seconds away and no longer closing in.
It wasn't a racing lap at the end with the tyres.
Massive fix.

I think the FIA will not allow any chance because of this... quite simply, what would they do? In reality, it should revert to the position during the SC.

Illegal restart of a race, but again RB will be up in arms, just think what Max would be like next year feeling he had been done in. All pointless, it's a ruined spectacle.

The real down side to this is they might have been able to let all lapped cars pass before the restart just to close that avenue. Masi has to go for this and Belgium, I emotionally started to detach after that farce of a race, now I don't care completely anymore. Max should have been thrown out of the last race so technically Lewis would have won anyhow. I can't get invested if the penalties are made up on the fly to make it more interesting.

As I've read somewhere else, it's like a team are winning 5-0 and then the referee decides it's time for a penalty shootout.

I’m a neutral that joined for a few races this year after being a fan in the past. WTF was that ending my god. They just gave it to him in the end. I suppose the only mistake Hamilton made was not pitting around lap 30 something when Max pitted.

You right that you can't penalise Verstappen, but Mercedes will surely be legally challenging the decision as the rules have been applied to their disadvantage.

Masi won't be in the position next year.

This is it. It was like he just panicked. If he wanted a proper race so the championship was decided on track he couldn’t have set it up better for Verstappen. It was a last lap turkey shoot

Not Hamilton, that was Mercedes call, I would have taken the stop. He comes out 6/7 seconds down with fresh tyres but in the end he would have probably passed Max by the SC and the same thing would have happened.

Not in this circumstance, it will probably go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport - F1 would be crazy to rule against themselves now, the damage would be immense.

It has to be Hamilton race win with this being the official ruling, Masi should be stepping down after this, he's been awful this season.

A lap should have been used by the cars to unlap themselves then take up race position, if so the race would have finished under the safety car.

Would be amazed at a result change, but I can see Mercedes taking a poundof flesh out of the FIA. Whether financial recompense or greater influence in the control of the sport i.e. Wolff taking Todts role
