I think it is, even if they appealed, what happens to change it? They cant just hand Lewis the win because for all we know Verstappen could have blue flagged everyone and caught up anyway.

I would have no idea how to settle it if the appeal was won.

I mean it was the two SC's that swung it for Verstappen, especially the second one. Lots of luck riding and fine margins but in the end history will reflect that Red Bull ultimately made the better decisions during the race. That's F1 for you.

Even Lewis himself was second guessing the team for most of the race.

Mercedes had zero choice over the last one, pitted and there hadn't been a restart and it would be called the dumbest move in sports. RB had the luxury of rolling the dice, as soon as they decided to start the race nose to tail the FIA handed the championship over to Verstappen.

How did he bottle it ? he dominated from start to finish and then got screwed by a safety car which left him on haggard tyres and Verstappen on fresh tyres. Race Control the changed the rules to allow Verstappen to win in a 1 lap shootout.
