Mercedes should appeal it strongly. But that said they won't win. Masi fixed it, words in his ear to enable what happened.

Even if they appealed and won it would leave just as bad taste in the mouth. No getting out of this now, they had the chance by not letting (some) lapped cars through or let them all through and the SC goes in just before Hamilton crosses the line. They've engineered the controversial instead of keeping it just a quiet bit of moaning. Media likes.

That has genuinely infuriated me like Everton do on a weekly basis. I just dont get how someone in such high power can decide to make it up just to make it more exciting. It was exciting for about 45 laps. Hamilton had eearned his lead on awful tyres, kept good pace.

Red Bull CLEARLY thought it would be of a similar thing finshing under the SC as well or restarting as it was as they retired Perez purely just to get him out the way if he had to do some lapping of cars.

Crash happens.
Safety car deployed.
Follow procedure.

I mean it was the two SC's that swung it for Verstappen, especially the second one. Lots of luck riding and fine margins but in the end history will reflect that Red Bull ultimately made the better decisions during the race. That's F1 for you.

Even Lewis himself was second guessing the team for most of the race.
