Player Valuation: £40m
David James was saying on Football Focus that Portsmouth haven't registered to be entered into the Europa League, due to the distraction and the expense (player bonuses) that it caused them last time.

As Chelsea will be competing in the Champions League, the Europa League place afforded by reaching the final of the FA Cup will presumably revert to the Premiership.

done already mate.

Its On / Its Offf:

Portsmouth are planning to appeal to the Football Assocation in a bid to secure a Uefa club licence to play in Europe next season.

In booking their place in the FA Cup final against Chelsea,

the relegated outfit qualified for European competition next season.

However, due to their dire financial plight it is unsure if Pompey will be allowed to take their place in the Europa League.

With Chelsea certain to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League,

it means Portsmouth

are entitled to claim the Europa League place usually awarded to the FA Cup winners.

But with the club in administration they are not allowed to apply for a required Uefa licence.

However, Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou

has indicated they will appeal to the FA in a bid to be awarded the authorisation to allow them to play in Europe next term.

It'll fail. They missed the deadline and UEFA won't change the rules especially with Platini in charge.

Its not the FA who decide its UEFA.

They missed the March 1st Deadline.

Maybe if they were Liverpool they'd change the rules..... but not for Portsmouth. Certainly not.

apologies mr blatter - didn't know you were a blue

Pompey have a bloody cheek to expect everyone to bend over backwards for them. Also they have a player who if he makes one more appearance triggers a 4 mill transfer fee for which they have not got the money. The player is on loan, can't recall the name but think it was tied in with a French club.

There's no way they should be successful. The repeated requests they've made for special allowances is getting ridiculous at this stage (to sell players outside of transfer window, to be immune from the 9-point deduction for administration, now this). Rules are rules, what the hell is the point in having a deadline if you just grant an exception to those who miss it? I have been critical of Portsmouth all season, no sympathy for the club or fans whatsoever, but I was delighted for them yesterday. They've gone and pissed me right off again though.

This will be typical us, stuff Villa finish 7th and Pompey will get the Euro place - thats how its going to be you just know it.

*Or they will reinstate the Intertoto for Norway!

This.

But then again, I dont think they will. Uefa wont have it.

And they'd get knocked out in the qualifyer anyway so it'd be a waste of time.
