Moyes and his team selections + strategy are turning us into the most boring team to watch since we got tonked by Boro 3-0 under Smith.

One thing for the Smith era was that he actually bought exciting players when given the cash -- Materazzi / Dacourt / Bakayoko may not have turned out well in the end but no-one can argue that they weren't exciting signings....

How many of Moyes' signings have excited you ? Here are the ones that warmed my cockles;

Baines -- always liked him at Wigan and thought he was class then -- I love marauding full-backs and after Naysmith and Hibbert I was very excited to think Moyes would now play more attack minded players from the back.

Wright -- Yes RICHARD WRIGHT !!! Im not ashamed to say that I was hopeful we would have signed Englands future keeper, when he was 17 I'd sent in a letter to Everton recommending him and Keiron Dyer -- what a shame we didnt have the funds for Hart when Moyes was offered him by Shrewsburys old manager....

Jagielka -- I saw a leader being signed from the way Warnock was raving about him being as good as Terry.

Fellaini -- I'd seen him play in a handful of games and heard good things from friends who'd seen him play live -- for the money we were spending I was thinking 2-3 years in our side and we'd have an absolute beast

Arteta / Pienaar / Fernandes -- Id seen all 3 play before and thought theyd all be good players but not exactly the best in the league....anyway these were loan signings -- having said that, DRENTHE looked world class a few years back and so I was excited to see if he could turn his fortunes around with us, much more of an exciting signing than say Arteta who looked like he was becoming a journeyman.

Ive been excited by 5 signings in 10 YEARS !!!

That has to be some kind of all time low as an Evertonian who had seen some really great players come in over the past 30+ years.

.....................Howard

Coleman.....Jagielka.....???......Baines

Drenthe.......Rodwell.....Fellaini....????

............................????

...........................????

This to me is the basis of an attacking winning side.....however it lacks LEADERSHIP -- CREATIVITY -- FINISHING.

This again is the age old adage of Moyes not taking risks and sticking to his favourites.....he has NEVER shipped out a regular player who has performed at at average level. The logic is to play at an average level and you stay in the side.

Heitinga
Distin
Bilyaletdinov
Osman
Hibbert
Neville
Anichebe
Saha
Yobo
Cahill

NONE of these players are on my list of EXCITING TALENT who I would be interested to watch play......who would pay good money to go to the game to simply be excited to watch one of these guys -- NOT ME !

There's 20-30mil GBP of players there with probably 350-400k GBP a week on wages being spent on them

I'm hoping that Barkley / Duffy / Mustafi / Garbutt / Bidwell / Lundstram / Hope / Dier / Velios can all step up in the next 2 seasons to enable us to get rid of the above listed players.

Thats 10 out and 9 in....and we'd probably save 150k GBP on wages + have a good chunk of cash left over.

However, we do not have any talisman or attacking force in the side -- someone who I would like to pay money to go and watch the game -- can one or two of these young players add that, Im not sure -- possibly but they are still young players who need time to develop and not be thrown in the deep end (as weve seen with Barkley this season).

So, my message to Moyes is --

A -- ship out the deadwood and begin integrating the youth.
B -- Bring in exciting attacking players like Drenthe
C -- Take risks and offload players

I want to see some young attacking players Mr Moyes -- If you give Saha / Osman / Hibbert / Cahill / Neville / Distin contrract extensions then you may as well resign the club to the mid table until we get a new manager.

I for one am starting to think that even Martinez at Wigan could do more with this side. At least he tries an attacking philosophy.

One other thing......if you add up the wages of players I dont put in the starting 11 and the money spent on a lot of them Moyes has nothing to complain about when it comes to lack of money.

I myself would be confident of finding better players with the amount of money available there -- IF anyone would buy the guys Moyes spent vast sums of money on.

Remember the year we got to the CL we were massively boring, just saying is all.

I didnt find it boring though...not the fact that we were winning but the joy of watching our defence stopping every attack that came our way....that was exciting.

When healthy, I'd put Saha in the exciting camp.

When healthy + looking for a new contract YES.......so logically until January he'll mysteriously have no injuries and knock a few in before disappearing for 6months AGAIN !!

For the record I wasnt advocating Martinez as a new manager for us -- just that he / Lambert whoever would more likely play an attacking side.

Gee; very harsh on some players. Distin has been excellent for the past couple of seasons, and since when are center halves supposed to be exciting? Saha on his day is still a class striker, and if we picked up a striker ahead of him he would still make my bench. Cahill puts in 150% every game, and although he isn't in his best form, I would always have him on my bench, just not starting, besides, he is a modern Everton legend and eptiomise's everything the club is about.

Exciting Centre backs -- Theres a lot of exciting centre backs.....not only the way they attack but also how they pass the ball and marshall the defence. For the record Distin is a LUMP -- hes good at his job but CANNOT PLAY WITH JAGIELKA who is the far superior player.

Saha and Cahill are finished unless playing for a contract. I myself could give 150% am I good enough to be in the premier league-- NO !

Forget the past -- the future is not with Cahill or Saha.

You're talking as if we have a massive warchest and a squad to big we can afford to let players go. These players are better than what you are giving them credit for and their impact on the team goes beyond the pitch. They are considered senior players, and every team has senior players. If you look at our squad now we have a lot of up and coming youth, especially in the midfield; Coleman, Rodwell, Barkley, Vellios, Fellaini, Drenthe, Gueye, all 24 and under. These are they players which will hopefully form the nucleus of our team in the coming years, but imagine if all of a sudden you got rid of Cahill, Saha, Hibbert, Osman, Neville, Distin...where is the leadership?

I understand what you are saying, yes these players shouldnt be our first choice players, but they SHOULD be in our squad. Unfortunately like I mentioned before; at this point in time, if we let all these players go, can we really afford to bring in cover for every single position...in fact, letting these players go will make us even more paper thin and we will have a much bigger reliance on youth, which although can be "exciting", really isn't going to help us at all in the short term.

The players you mentioned should be phased out of the starting lineup, but they should always remain apart of the squad, because they are more than solid squad players, and they are more than capable of playing in the premier league unlike what you believe.

edit: Even if we did sell them all off, they are getting on and wouldn't be worth more than a few million each max. The transfer fee's we would receive still wouldn't be enough to provide depth.

To be fair mate, we have been boring for the majority of the last 10 years.
