Ex Ref admits they choose what to see and what not too

Not the first time match reports have been altered. Anyone remember when Adebayor scored against Arsenal and ran the full length of the pitch to celebrate in front their fans. He was yellow carded and after the match the ref told City he was carded for improper conduct over his provocative celebrations. Yet they charged him again and when City asked how he could be charged for something he'd already been booked for, they showed them the match report which said he'd been booked for time wasting. City were furious about it, because the ref had clearly lied on his report or been told to alter it so they could charge him again.
That story was told by a senior club official at a Points of Blue meeting.

And the referee was? None other than Clattenburg. How can you be booked for time wasting when you are running back to your own half after scoring. Illogical.

The English game is corrupt to the hilt to protect certain clubs and players. If what Halsey says happened abroad, the English media would be all over like a rash claiming 'corruption'. But are silent when it happens in their own backyard.

Like that time the referee said he was adding time on for goal celebrations when it has never been done before or since. They are all at it and the fact that it stays the same people reffing the top games despite making mistake after mistake tells you all you need to know. It is also the reason refs like Moss and Atkinson are still around.

There's a Manchester based journalist who is actually a Utd fan and he often jokes that he should have been given a 2012 Premier League winners medal. If you can cast your mind back to that season, City were running away with the title. Utd were only keeping pace with a run of 1-0 wins, often by way of a dubious pen or some other contentious decision. In what seemed like no time, City found themselves 8 points behind. This journalist working on behalf of City, prepared a dossier which was handed over to the FA and named certain referees and asked for certain matches to be looked at. One ref left the Prem immediately(mid season) and took up a position abroad and it was a couple of years before two of the others ever went anywhere near one of our games.

There's also a ref who is regarded as the best in the country by many and City had a tremendous record when he officiated. I'm sure it was a coincidence that he was very friendly with a certain Thai businessman. Funnily enough as soon as that Thai's connections to the club were fully severed, our record with him in charge has taken a turn for the worse.

Poll admitted six years ago he got the Hutchinson call wrong. Fat lot of good it did at the time, but at least he admitted the mistake. Something Collina and Clattenburg would never do.

I don't believe that was a "mistake" - seemed to me he was determined the goal wouldn't stand and he invented the reason post-match. It was a real Clive Thomas moment.
