I just don't see this. You're saying that we're playing some of the technically best football in the league yet also say that thoughts of champions league are preposterous? The two don't mix. The reality is we are a mid table outfit with four world class young players. Occasionally we can turn it on but are weak mindset and inconsistency combined with deep rooted defensive issues have left us in midtable. At the start of the season I expected last season's top 4 with us in a chasing pack. Seeing Chelsea falter though has opened a spot. Do I think Spurs or Liverpool have more talent than us? No. Will they challenge harder for fourth? Probably because both their managers value balanced sides winning at the expense of entertainment.
If you cant compute that we have gifted players playing the best attacking football in the league but the whole unit is a work in progress then I'm afraid that's your problem.

I can't stand that Vardy. I also can't stand the no marks Leicester and their small time attitude to him. Some are seriously trying to make out he is better than Lukaku. It's embarrassing. Michael Rickets MK2 him.
I dont like him at all. He's a decent enough player but he's a nasty little toe rag: he's a racist, been done for assault (yeah, 'protecting his disabled mate' yada yada yada), and left his studs all over that Newcastle GK the other week. He's not someone I'd spare a thought for he got scythed in two on the pitch, let's put it that way.

I think we have LW and GK + competition for Lukaku to sort out first. Ideally by the end of the summer window.

Centre midfield is really interesting as we have Osman, Gibson,Besic,Cleverley,Barry,Barkley as first team central midfield players but only Barkley/Besic and Cleverley mid term....

Once the other positions are sorted i think after next summer Martinez will look to reshape the centre midfield.

The lack of quality in the centre of midfield will have to be addressed before this side gets anywhere.

In comparison Lukaku mishit a shot before a game and ran into the opposition end to personallt applogise to an opposition fan and give them his shirt.

The goals against columns tell different stories though.

A work in progress maybe, but Leicester, Palace and West Ham all have 'newer' managers than us, and are further behind in their own development. The difference being that they're playing for points. And if this work in progress doesn't hit the milestones it so rightly should, given the talent available, then it'll be ripped apart and we'll be back to square one.

Everton probably have the strongest bench we've ever had, yet it's not being used.

We know the way Roberto works though. There'll be no short cut to where he wants us to go and how we get there by scabbing points with 'muscular' tactics. Whether you support that method or not, it's the one he works by and the one we have to accept. Personally, I'm delighted we have a manager at last who knows how to get an Everton team playing football on the deck. Results better than this will come over time as it all falls into place like clockwork (defensively as well as attacking-wise).

Centre mid could be interesting if there was some rotation, but that never happens.

It'll be Barry and McCarthy whenever possible until the former hangs them up.

That entire post is your subjective opinion. Actual facts paint a very different opinion. We are where we deserve to be. A very good attack (but not the best) combined with a poor defence has left us in midtable. You can't mis read the league table. You can ignore it however.

Imagine what Davek will be like when we actually win actually get it together and start regularly winning games.

We are great going forwards, terrible at the back.

Rooney would for me be the perfect replacement for Kone. In position would hold the ball up well for Rom and good enough to go it alone. Imagine what a statement of intent purely based on his name /reputation in the game. Could be the signing to convince the likes of Rom to give us 1 more season to push for Europe.

We are great when going forward. No question about that. However, that is limited to the time when the players are counter-attacking with no time to think much. If the opposition park the bus then our players seem to struggle to get goals. We tend to hit the opposition real hard via counter attacking.

The coach has to think hard why our defence is pretty average as a unit. Is it merely down to the keeper? I don't think so. We need Jags and Baines back asap as the defence will be calmer when they are under pressure.

I disagree about Baines, tbh. If you're looking for greater defensive stability he isn't the obvious (part) solution. In fact, I think Baines has to wait his turn getting back into this team. We have enough going forward and Galloway is a better competitor as a defensive FB than Baines, imo.

Well all our opinions are subjective aren't they? You seem drawn to the points total and all things table related and downgrade/dismiss/dont see the giant leaps made in the way this team plays.

And there was me thinking the best attacking team scored the most goals.
