There're not entertaining really though. They have one play and that's to hit Vardy with a long ball and isolate him one on one with the last defender. Take away his circus sideshow act and you're left with a sub-midtable outfit playing perfunctory football.

I strongly disagree. Some of the quality of the goals they have scored have been electrifying, precise and clinical. They don't over pass and rely on pace and a slightly more a direct style of play which has been getting them results since about February of last season and has carried on even more into this season.

Yes we play nice football, but we are 9th mate. Liverpool played some marvellous stuff against City the other week, every bit as good as what we have been doing. Let's not all start acting RAWKish on the back of 1 decent performance at home.

Sadly this argument falls down when you consider that two of the keystones of this team (Lukaku and Stones) will most likely not be here next season. This team has not just started this season, it's the same team more or less as 13/14. Sadly we've done nothing with them. Yes we can sell players and reinvest the funds in other good players to go with what we have but eventually you cannot buy the sort of quality we have. The Besic's Galloways and Brownjngs of this world are not at the same level as Stones or Lukaku.

We are exciting to watch going forward but partly because we've pretty much abandoned any semblance of competent defending which is annoying given the quality of defenders we have. At some point this evolution has to end but I fear we might get only one more season at the very most out of some of the current team, especially if we cannot show any tangible signs of progression (by tangible that is not GOTs opinion on quality of football or youth of the side, it is league position and trophies, that is all these players will care about).

To be fair, we bought Stones, Lukaku and Deulofeu.

Granted, losing players and replacing them each year will not result in success, so we really do have to kick on and challenge for a top 4 place. Personally, I think we could take losing Stones next summer and improve overall with the money we receive, but it's not ideal. We seem close to hitting a level above what we've seen, probably over the entire PL era, but that potential has to be realised pretty quickly.

This squad reminds me of the 83/84 season. A group of talented young players mixed with some wise experience, but not quite working out how to push on to a higher level. They need a reward for their efforts to give them the extra belief that they are going somewhere. A cup win is where it all began then, we need an Oxford United moment like knocking City out from a Sterling back pass.

I said last night this team is crying out for a top class experienced attacking player or 2

To help us win games like last night
At times for all their quality rom Ross & geri still make wring decision which is understandable

We need more composure and Better players than Kone Naismith and lennon

The thing is always comes down to money and top players aged 24/27 cost big money so you either buy another youngster or pay over the odds for a 30yr old like palace did with cabaye

A few months ago I didn't want Rooney back but I now think he would be perfect for us
I think rom/stones would definitely stay another year

He would lift the profile of the club too and we may even get some refs on our side as he's England captain lol worked for Gerrard

People say he's finished but look at all utd's forwards struggling under VG system

Rooney wouldn't stay England captain for long if he ever moved here and he'd never take the sort of payout we could afford.

It's pie in the sky thinking Rooney is or would come back.

I reckon you're being curmudgeonly there mate. The Leicester team I watched in the weekend, were much more than a sub-mid table outfit playing perfunctory football.

Palace: they get their wing whippets to turn the opposition on their heels and hit them hard, or else lump it into the mixer for a header. They are limited.

Liverpool: huff and puff harrying of the opposition. That's all they have. That bears no relation to the sort of constructive one touch football we can play out from the back with varying pace. We are builders; they are merely destroyers (dogs of war)

I don't think it's pie in the sky
Can't see him staying at Utd much longer
And we're ever he goes he's not getting the same money

It's not like city Chelsea or Madrid are in for him

And can't see him up rooting his young family half way around the world for a big pay day he doesn't need

There'll be plenty of clubs willing to give him whatever wages he wants if he moves on from Utd.

Also when has a footballer having a family ever stopped them from moving?
