not sure that's correct old chum

Near enough.

It had been used in friendly competitions and stuff but the 70-71 season was the first it was used competitively. According to wiki, aberdeen got knocked out of the cup winners cup on pens in the september and we only won on pens two months later in the champions league, but near enough.

2nd, then.

Fiorentina was easily the most heartbreaking night as an Evertonian I can remember, but the victories over United and Chelsea were incredible!!

And our record appears to be win, lose, win, lose etc. so we should be due a win in our next one, good omen for the European cup then!!

Knowing us we'll probably get one against a team who haven't won a penalty shoot out for 17 years.

So 5 wins, 7 losses. Alright.

Forgotten we lost to brentford on pens between the chelsea and man u games.

Which makes our recent record lwlwlwlwl.

And no surprise we lost 3 out of 3 under smith. That team had even less of a winning attitude than the later ones.

Under Walter, I bet the five penalty takers were all centre halfs !

We're both half right Everton were the first european penalty shoot out ( 4-3 sept. )
The first in england was Hull Vs United in the semi finals of the watneys (aug ) cup Best scored the first ever Law missed the first ever, the Hull keeper McKechnie was the first keeper to save one vs Law he was also the first player to lose the shoot out for his team when he missed his kick

wiki saying it was hull v man utd with man u winning

I remember Charlton in the Full Members Cup 1987

Praying someone would miss just so we could go home

Sunderland and Bakayoko walking up to take his with a track suit top on

Does anyone know what it is? I have a feeling that it's pretty abysmal (whereas the RS have an irritatingly good one) but this may be me looking at it from (whatever the opposite is of) rose tinted glasses.

PS what is the opposite of rose tinted glasses?

..through a glass darkly...

PS perhaps that response belongs in the Ross Barkley thread lol
