Everton's inability to get transfer deals over the line

It's pointless giving players who we all know are not good enough a pre season. We should be bringing in better players ASAP whilst selling on the poorer ones.

Football is simple like that. Buy good players, win stuff.

I thought we had some loaded bloke as owner now? Again, where is the communication? None of us are any of the wiser, RM may as well still be manager.

Be patient mate, would rather we weren't travelling 37 million miles this summer and isntead focused on getting the players fully fit and used to each other more than anything else

Signings will come in with enough time to work with the team etc before the kickoff i'm sure of it, Koemans not new to this league or to managing, he knows the importance of getting it sorted for the start of the season

It is not a question of being patient or impatient.

It is merely stating a fact that by the time the season starts, in less than a month from now, we are either going to be starting with more or less the same team as would have started a game last season, or a team half made up with players unfamiliar with each other.

for me personally K, I want all signings ( or at least the main 2-3 top drawer signings) to be done this weekend.

We have the likes of Coleman, Lukaku, Barkley, McCarthy and possibly Stones back next week and I think it would be great to have everyone back together all gelling at the same time.

Whether that's going to happen or not I'm not sure, it certainly doesn't seem to look like we are close to finalising any deals as things stand or if we are we have kept it very quiet indeed.

Exactly, Mac.

I don't even know if four weeks (blimey, hasn't the summer just flown by :() is long enough but one thing for sure.....any less and it is hard to see how any new signings would be totally blended by August 13th.

And as you say, nowt appears likely to be finalised in the immediate future.

Which is fine...better to take our time and make sure we buy the right man rather than just buy players fir the sake of it :)

But at this stage it is hard to see a new look side being ready to hit the ground running come the Spurs game.

Understandable concerns mate.

But look at Watford for example last season, practically a whole new team started the season than finished their promotion one, they started well

Chelsea made hadly any changes and started terribly.

IF they are vcoached well and they have at least a bit of time to train together and maybe get the last few pre seasons or more in then it should be fine

look at us under Moyes for example, typically had little change in personal and more often than not started the season pretty poorly

Conversley mate, the SPurs players in the Euros looked absolutely dead on their feet and its going to be hard for them to recover with only a short break, god this optimism lark is wierd...

I know it's going back a few years but when was it when we brought in 3 or 4 players real early ( might have been the season we brought in Lescott, maybe Johnson as well ) and we hit the ground running.

Get them in, work them hard and ready for the Spurs game which will be upon us in the blink of an eye.

The same team and same players that put up 72 points 2 seasons ago. The problem hasnt been the players, its been the coach, unless the ousting of Martinez was all a clever rouse. We seem to forget how good these PLAYERS were 2 years ago. Bringing in new players isnt about competing for 6th, its about competing for 4th.

Also, while it would be ideal to have players in early, whats more important, getting the wrong players in early, or waiting to get the right player, who will also be with the team for years?

Things are clearly going to happen. But we're now at the stage where ideally they happen soon. But ultimately it's better we get top players in at some point before September rather than missing out altogether.

There are at least 3 people I wouldn't want to spend Christmas day with, swamping this thread with misery. I wont name them, as it would instantly whip up a storm of dark forces. In other news a very good friend of mine told me that a guy he's been working with said he's friends with Joe Allens dad, and that we're in talks. Yes, I laughed too!

I'd rether we were prudent and got good deals rather than panic buys.

However I'd much rather we had the majority of our new faces in place for the start of pre season so the new coaching team had time to work them all together in readiness for the first game.
