Everton's Captain

Probably Jagielka. I don't think anyone wants Fellaini to be the emissary between the other 10 players and the referee.

Is the role of captain really that great? Do you need to have an armband to be vocal and give instructions to your team mates, or is it a case of needing it to make them follow it?

Got to say, from my perspective, having a captain like Phil Neville would piss me off. Not fit to lace any of the other players in the team's boots when it comes to footballing ability yet is a guaranteed starter because he is one of Moyes' favourites and can bark some instructions.

I voted Baines anyway, leading by example with 100% commitment. Perhaps it would give him even more confidence and make him be more vocal. Would've went for Jags otherwise but tbh, I think the CB partnership should be Distin- Heitinga

Johnny Heitinga would be a very good choice under that criteria, but generally you don't flog your captain like an unwanted desk in a car boot sale.

Which was the precise reason I overlooked Johnny.

He would be the perfect choice, hes calm enough to talk to the ref and hes vocal enough to gee up the team.

But he cant do any of this from the bench.

Blates Johnny and Fellaini gone in Jan.

Yep.

Which is why I went for Distin. Think he has the experience factor Neville has but he can still play football and get into the team on merit. He's respected by the team and a very calm, rational lad who can talk to refs and calm a situation down, but he's also got fire in his belly.

I'll stop now because I'm getting a massive erection.

I personally think this is Distins last Season mate, at Everton anyway.

His time is definitely running out, but whilst he's still playing at this level he's worthy of it in my opinion.

I think it will be Jags though. And if/when Johnny does go he'll probably be the best choice.

Has to be baines, complete pro. rarely loses the head in spite of some of the stupidity sround him.Yes nev i am pointing at you.

Neville should be 'club captain', but shouldn't be on the field.

Jagielka, Distin and Heitinga all deserve it for me but the problem is one of them has to sit on the bench every week.

Baines is our best player and sets a fine example because he's one of the hardest working players on the pitch every week without fail, but isn't vocal enough.

Darron Gibson would make a great captain for me but seems a bit quiet and hasn't been here very long - maybe he'll be ready when Neville finally steps down.

In short: DUNNO.
