Everton Youth Teams Thread

That's what I don't understand about Tait is he plays players not in their best positions so how is that helping their development? Is his idea to make them all rounders rather than specialists?
It could be to just see what they do but half the time the roles hes putting them in, the lads havent even got a chance of making it in. Van Schoor for example is never gonna be a left winger.

It's not even like he only does it for certain players, he's prone to playing every player in roles they just aren't suited to. But it could be club policy we will ultimately never know.

He is, but realistically that's a very niche role for him in senior football nowadays. Unless he seriously improves his passing and defensive side of the game to become an attacking midfielder.
It is quite a niche role but we do play with a player behind the striker, so imagine he views that as a pathway into the first team.

Think we've probably thought about trying him out wide but would be a waste of his natural finishing ability and play in the box imo.

It’s true, more concerned with his own CV, we had loads of over age players playing. So we could win the title
Also his tactics were shocking
I'm not sure I'd go along with that to be honest. Sure he played players over aged but he wasn't in charge of giving these players contracts when they should of been released so he was selecting players from what was available. His tactics were shocking that I do agree on

They should have been going out on loan these players, the good ones, the older ones should have been moved on and younger players brought through. He was around with Bill so sentimentality was there go to word.

I remember one year 6/7 games to go, we were going to finish 5th to 7th, nothing to play for and we had 17tr old Antony Gordon as our best talent coming through. And he left him on the bench in Under 21 dead rubbers to play David henen and another player, could have been Connor grant. Who were both leaving at the end of the season, embarrassing

Then he gets made academy director by bullshit Billy. Marcel brands hated him, walked out of a under 21 game once, after 15mins because of the tactics and style of play

I just think Dewsbury Hall currently plays too deep for where you ideally want Graham. He very well could make it as a second striker I just think a goalscoring winger might be an easier transition

Fair play I didn't know about that story of Marcel Brands walking out of a U21 game. I think the under 21s need to have better direction from the club owners and a plan to help us produce more players and a better pathway. At the moment it just seems like an after thought with no real ideas on how to produce players who can be in or around the first team squad
