Think a lot of us came into the season prepared to give Silva time to change things around, but sitting there at Goodison watching our players out fought and out thought in almost every department, it's very hard to put that into practice.

Apart from appearing to want it more, the big difference between the 2 teams on the day was in the attacking players. Every ball upto their forward line, whether on the deck or in the air, stuck. With us it was the exact opposite. All 3 of them were guilty, but Tosun was by far the worst. Static doesn't even come into it. One of the occasions directly led to the first goal.

The other thing that was apparent was the total lack of leadership on the pitch, either vocally or by example. This was evident every time they scored (in each case incidentally, when we were on the front foot and looking dangerous) our heads went down and we really struggled to get a foothold for the next 10/15 minutes. The only one who reacted after the goals was Pickford, but I couldn't tell if he was trying to motivate the players or berate them.

Overall, I thought we actually created enough chances to get something out of the game, but West Ham's finishing was another thing that was far superior to ours. The one thing I thought went well was the full backs getting forward and putting quality balls into the box. Yes they could have done better defensively but they aren't alone in that and at least the did have good positivity going forward. So Kenny just about edges MO for me ahead of Digne.

And a final word for Bernard. Was a promising debut (don't include the 5 mins against Bournemouth) and he looks the kind of player to get you out of your seat. He may be small but he looks as though he's a battler for his size. Took some punishment yesterday but still went looking for it afterwards.

Thought Digne and Kenny both did well going forwards but you cant let in three at home and not blame the defense. Not sure what Pickford was doing for their second with his pass/clearance or with his Howard-esque effort on the third. Sigurdsson was class throughout but looked more like he did at Swansea where no-one else was on the same wavelength. Bernard also flashes of exciting skills - he'll get booted up in the air more than Pienaar did! The ability of our attackers to control the ball with their first touch was shocking! DCL just awful, Tosun limp, Niasse seems to have regressed.Even Graeme LeSaux commentating on my feed could see our only threat was the fullbacks. The fact that they are both contenders for MotM in a game were they ere up against Yarmalenko and F. Anderson is remarkable.

Not really interested in your report, as most of our fans could see for themselves. Have I missed something or what? This is a regular thing by
not just you. Since I was a kid West in goal NO.1.) Parker Right back NO.2. Wilson Left back NO. 3. So what year did it all change?
You have Pickford NO.1.) Digne Left back NO.2.) Kenny Right back NO. 3.) Please enlighten me!

Clubs tend to announce teams in shirt number order which largely gives no indication to the unknowing what position they're playing.
If you look at say the BBC sports site for their team listings, they tend to work on the principle that you're reading from the goalie forward and working on the left to right principle, goalie, left back, left CH, right CH, right back etc etc
If you haven't noticed, we no longer have shirts 1 to 11 like in the good old days... and this has probably brought bout the change to which you refer.

And thanks for not being interested in the report, makes the effort of being the first match report live after the game has ended all the more worthwhile @GrandOldTeam and what about the fans who aren't able to watch live, on tv or listen on radio... at least the reports on GOT give them some indication as to what happened.

I despair. I really do.

Jordan Pickford -worried about him TBF. He is a good keeper though, so will stick with him.
Lucas Digne - best player on the pitch the last two home games. Great potential, should be locked in as a starter now.
Kurt Zouma - jury's out
Mason Holgate - not good enough for Everton. Sorry.
Jonjoe Kenny - too young and raw to tell. Potential to be good, yes! Potential to not be good enough for Everton, yes!
Morgan Schneiderlin - not good enough for Everton. Sorry.
Idrissa Gana Gueye - not good enough for Everton. Sorry.
Gylfi Sigurdsson - not good enough for Everton. Sorry.
Theo Walcott - great player. Better football brain than most of the team, and yes worth playing week in week out.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin - not good enough for Everton. Sorry.
Cenk Tosun - not good enough for Everton. Sorry.
Bernard - looked great! IF he carries on like that, a fantastic prospect.
Oumar Niasse- not good enough for Everton. Sorry.
Ademola Lookman - not good enough for Everton. Sorry

I'm sure that the unfortunate supporters who listen to the radio will be well pleased to hear that Jonjoe Kenny had a fine game at Left-back, in fact, the best game he's had all season.

Thought you were a bit too generous to 'Mary' Pickford, otherwise, my thoughts entirely.

Really struggled with this one - hard pushed to choose after truly woeful display. Picked Digne in the end because he did make some decent runs forward. Thought Calvert -Lewin's first touch was terrible.
Too early in the season to despair - still think once we have all new signings fit and Brands/ Silva make a few new signings in January and next summer, we'll slowly start to build a team for the future. Still got a lot of dead wood to get rid of

Although West Ham produced a much better team performance, the two teams largely matched each other.

The deciding factor was the sharpness of the West Ham forwards - Yarmolenko, Anderson and Arnautovic - playing against our relatively young and inexperienced back four.

We can expect to see goals this season!
