Shaun Maloney is a really good player mate. McCarthy I honestly haven't seen enough enough of to comment properly... I never really noticed a big difference in ability between McArthur and McCarthy, so the huge fee being touted feels very arbitrary for me, but then I never really paid close attention. I remember his scored a beautiful goal a few years back with N'Zogbia, think it might've been against Blackburn.
Anyway, I wouldn't mind Shaun Maloney and one top class central midfielder. I personally don't think McCarthy fits that bill

Very impressed with Stones, his two tackles were impressive. He nearly scored with a header and his penalty
. MOTM for me. Well in Martinez for starting him. We have two top RB in Coleman and Stones, Stones passing is pretty good as well and remains very calm when press. Osman had a nightmare game and hopefully will be on the bench again next season, he must be worried now Moyes had left. Barkley needs to play instead of Osman and I hope Martinez realized this. Howard made some good saves but he needs to work on his distribution as Martinez likes to play from the back and not hoof it to Victor. I was surprised Victor started and also lasted 89 minutes, he did make a good contribution to the team but I would rather have seen Kone or Jelevic started, hope one of them does in the next game. Mirallas shows his class in flashes player and will be an amazing key player for us this season. The only concernS I had were Pienaar and Fellaini.

I see where you're coming from but I'm honestly more worried about us creating chances in this system. A midfield duo of Gibson and Fellaini doesn't have enough craft for me.
It'll also take Coleman and Baines a while to adapt to being wing backs. I think the 3-5-2 system leaves you in limbo when playing that position.
