I think the competition for places will bring the best out of Gylfi. How can you not perform at your best with this newly infused group of committed players. He will be a valuable occasional starter when needed and who knows, maybe capture some of that form from a few years ago.

To be fair, as a bench player with much more talent around him, dare I say Iceland can be very useful this season. When he's been asked to do too much, he melts. But in this squad, he can actually help us

Same as always - produces a dangerous attack almost every time he gets the ball. Leaves a gap defensively but seems everybody is ready to cover it

Always quite optimistic with Richarlison but much less so with Allan. Only about 60 odd hours turnaround

I'm glad we fielded a strong side tonight against prem opposition. Just poor luck.

Even city fielded almost full strength De Bruyne, Rodri, Sterling, Mahrez, Torres and strong back line.

DCL was a crap striker. Carlo has turned him into a class striker. This is the power and influence of the best manager.....

he was never crap, but his finishing was about 10% as good as his timing and his positioning - thats why he used to bloot so many chances (which if he was crap he'd never have been in position to get)

now his finishing is much better
