That goal felt like a big deal to state the blindingly obvious. I was on the verge of cutting myself and listening to Dashboard Confessional.

City is going to be the key gam to see if this is the 'Kevin Brock' moment of the season. If he goes for the counter attacking, like he did today, that midfield unit needs to be tight and compressed, pressing as soon as they enter our half. Back off like tonight, their quality will destroy us.

Lukaku could bully there CB's with pace and power if he plays like tonight, Besic can be the engine constantly applying pressure. Bring the back line tighter to midfielder unit and don't allow any space, to big a hole for qualty players to exploit
The lineup is going to be interesting, hope McCarthy is back as that would really help with the pressing you mention.

Again without stating the bloody obvious, massive goal. Will surely give the team a lift moving into the weekend and next week. Things will get better, just a matter of time (been saying it for weeks now)

I obviously want us to progress and didn't want us to lose. However, tonight was the point at which I became 'not bothered' if RM got sacked. Weirdly, I feel like we're declining, and like an alcoholic, need to hit Mike Walker Walter Smith rock bottom to realise it. And defeat may have got us there quicker.. Anyway, back to my narrative...previously, I was against RM leaving. He was so good last year. But when does bad form turn into a rot. We have, in my judgement, the 5th, 6th or 7th best squad in the league (and probably the 4th best first 11). It's him! Isn't it?

RM keeps referring to playing like Barca, watch a few of there games under Pep, he had a team of world class players chasing down, the midfield unit and back four where quite close that as soon as the opposition got the ball they surrounded them, nicked it back and had the quality to rip teams apart.

When we pressed in parts today we put West Ham on the back foot and forced them back, then just seemed to back off again. Keep that going for 90 minutes

tbf pressing is very hard to do for 90 mins, especially when you have two games a week. Real pity we have had such long injuries to McCarthy and Gibson to help rotate the squad, particularly during this intense festive period. Thought Barry looked a bit better today with a few extra hours rest and Besic is beginning to adapt to the physicality of the league.

First game at Goodison for me this season, come away relatively positive in a that-wasn't-the-shambles-I-was-expecting sort of way. Rom the best player on the pitch by a distance, Robles not awful, first half generally OK. Second half was pretty bad, though - we carried so little threat, couldn't break down a pretty average WH side, and seemed like we were easily discouraged. Good character to rescue the game, though.

Seeing Barry, Distin and Jags knock it round in triangles, or try to do so, was depressing. Just shows what a serious personel problem Martinez has atm - agree that a fit McCarthy and Stones would be transformative. Won't pretend to understand RM's thought process in fitting in, or accommodating, Ross Barkley in his system. Seems completely A about T - you fit your system around Ross Barkley.

Anyhow, feels like a good result as we looked dead and buried for a time there second half.

Hilarious. Anyone who was critical of that performance 'wanted us to lose', or 'was gutted' when the equalising goal went in.

You couldn't make it up. This what divides the fanbase.

Pathetic.

Think I've found the bad egg in the camp with my go go gadget eyes!

Etoo shaking his head as he walked off the pitch and I didnt see to many Everton players approach him at full time either.

Go go gadget fozzy.

was arguing with the ref after the whistle. walked away headshaking. also pressed a lot and fetched the ball for their free kicks to make them get on with it.

great attitude for me!
