Bringing on Kone cannot be seen as a plan B, he offers absolutely nothing to the team, one of the worst 'footballers' to play for Everton. It's seen as a negative for the crowd and you could hear that when him came on, bringing on Kev or Del would've been far more positive and at least they would've run at the defence, causing far more problems.

OK - So I offer up it was a plan B with some basis in logic and fact (acknowledging that didn't work and Kone didn't play well) and you come back with nothing to back up your argument but "one of the worst footballers to Play for Everton" drivel and the "It's seen as negative for the crowd". The first is a complete opinion and we can go back to earlier threads this year were the majority of the posters were happy he finally got over his injury bug and was playing well. The other I believe personally reflects on a piss poor crowd more than the decision (if it was true)

So how about some facts to back up a plan B.
Lukaku
Goals scored with Kone on the field - 13
Goals scored without him - 7 (including 1 penalty)

Previous game against WBA:
down 2-1 with WBA parking the bus
Kone comes on for Naismith at 72 Scores at 75
Lukaku scores the winner at 84.

- So the majority (By a wide margin) of our Best Strikers goals are scored with Kone on the pitch.
- Against the same team in a very similar situation earlier in the year Kone gets brought on and changes the complexion of the game and scoring the tying goal.

Kone attracts more attention from a central defender than Mirallas would because he plays closer to the middle than Kev. This alleviates some of the doubling of Lukaku. Kone doesn't supply the defensive cover that Clev does which I think is why he is not starting anymore. We were scoring goals but shipping a ton as well. WBA was no threat to try and score at that point so Everton was playing much more like 2 up top than a 4-2-3-1 that we started with, Oviedo playing almost as a full winger than a LB. It didn't work, Kone didn't play well, no dispute on anything there, but sometimes it is just the players on the pitch. Even if you look at Barkley's miss late on when he put his shot over in the 5 minute highlights. An argument can be made that there is more space because Kone is occupying Olsen (who is rushing to close the space on Barkley at the completion of the 1-2 with Rom). I think Barkley could have made an extra touch because of the space created by Kone playing more as a second striker and having pulled Olsen away from Rom.

But you're right that wasn't a plan B that had some thought behind it and you know this because the crowd moaned and Kone is one of the worst footballers to play for us....

Hahaha, your joking right?

Kone has played in 22 of our 26 league games and he has also played cup games, without Lukaku, so in the 4 games Lukaku didnt play with Kone he scored 7 goals, compared to the 13 in 22.

Not Joking Goat... I went back and checked EVERY goal Lukaku scored this year and those are the FACTS - Sorry it doesn't suit your opinion.

Funny how something as simple as sticking a player on the post ended up winning them the game (Mori's header).

Obviously not as progressive or innovative as just standing around aimlessly, but effective nevertheless.

Yeah and ive just presented mine, heres the bullet points :

Goals scored with Kone 13 in 22
Goals scored without Kone 7 in 4.

Sorry if THAT doesnt fit your Agenda.

I see Math is not your strong suit. Where do you get your numbers from because they are clearly wrong - as there have been 32 cup and league appearances for Lukaku this year so your already not even close to being correct (34 total everton games):

http://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=56521
Lukaku - 20 goals, 16 in the league (in 26) , 4 in cup games - ( in 6 )

But lets really get at it why don't we. It is goals per minutes played together that will give us a good idea if Lukaku plays better in terms of scoring with Kone on the pitch.

ALL COMPS
: : 13 : 1350 : 7 : 1523 :
:
: min/Goal W/Kone : 103.8 : min/Goal w/o Kone : 217.6 :

OK to summarize as I can tell your Math needs a little remediation:
Lukaku's Minutes per Goal with Kone ON the pitch:
All comps

1 Goal every 103.8 minutes
League Games:
1 Goal every 93.3 minutes
Cup Games:
Has not scored with Kone on the pitch in 137 Total Minutes over 8 games

Lukaku's Minutes per Goal with Kone NOT on the pitch:
All comps

1 Goal every 217.6 minutes
League Games:
1 Goal every 357.3 minutes (take away the penalty and his goals from open play is 1 in 536 minutes)
Cup Games:
1 Goal every 112.8 minutes

More facts
- In Cup Games RM has not generally played them together, Rom's Strength and skills allow him to dominate what is generally lower level competition and STILL his strike rate is lower in the cup games. In league games it isn't even close how much more effective Rom is in terms of scoring goals from open play as opposed to without Kone.
- Kone made a massive difference against WBA in the first league Game.
- In the league Lukaku scores 3.8 x's as many goals per minute with Kone on the pitch than off (take away the penalty and it is 5.7 x's as many goals) Not a flattering stat for Lukaku - because If I can generate these stats you can bet teams are.

Opinion:
It appears Kone helps Rom but hurts Everton defensively if there are not 2 good defensive MF to provide cover.

All I ever said is that there was logic behind that decision to bring Kone on and the facts back it up - It didn't work out. Should we be questioning that Lukaku is incredibly overrated? That he is crap? That Kone is the reason he scored the bulk of his goals against top competition? I am not saying that at all . I am saying is there is logic behind the move and sometimes it is just on the players.

Also saying that your argument is equivalent to sticking a finger in the wind and saying you can predict the weather. BTW - I think Math class is over for the day.
