Only mistake was teaming custard with apple pie.

Apple crumble is SO much better.

I like apple crumble too. But apple pie with a nice short pastry is damned good as well. I prefer vanilla ice cream with it although a nice Bird's custard is good too.
Rhubarb crumble is also tasty, and with that, I do prefer custard.
