To be fair on those 2, it Sounds like we tried our very best to let them score, but they're Newcastle.
Not really. Just that mitrovic chance which would have had to have been n excellent volley to get it on target. The rest of the game we were comfortable, they never looked like doing anything in our box.

Good win that. And for once most of Bobby's decisions came off, Joel was a obvious. Oviedo in for Baines gave us more energy, as did Lennon who works his nuts off. Some good movement in the midfield, and Jags and Mori looked solid. Stones needed that rest and he will get one now with that hammy. We could have taken our chances before the last ten but we put them away in the end. Poor side the barcodes.

It was a decent side......please keep with it........

Well, that was imo a magnificent display, and with some key players missing too.

We totally bossed them for about 95% of the game and should have won by more, so the two penalties at the end gave a truer reflection of our domination. I'd go as far as saying that's one of the best games i've seen them play this season, and just wish we could have done it against other mid and lower table teams too. But maybe Roberto's rant at referees had an effect because we were (fairly) awarded our first two penalties of the season.

Kone is no match for Lukaku, but nevertheless, off the bench he is good for his strength, holdup play, and consequent ability to slow a game down, but i never feel confident when he's in front of goal. Barkley is really coming on leaps and bounds this season, and it was great to see him have such a good game in front of the home crowd. Robles, once again, didn't have a lot to do, but on the strength of what i've seen he should keep his place now for the rest of the season, especially if Howard has thoughts of leaving; we need a chance to assess whether he's good enough to be our first choice. Certainly his ball distribution is superior to Howard's. Mori, surprisingly, was the most disappointing player, somebody said in the Man C thread that his first twenty minutes are always shaky, and it was borne out again tonight. I'm not sure what the problem is there, but he urgently needs to work on it. Everyone else on the pitch imo had an excellent game, it was a great team effort. My joint motm is Aaron Lennon and Ross Barkley, with Gareth Barry and Tom Cleverley mentioned in dispatches.

Best thing is two clean sheets on the bounce. Can only breed confidence (hopefully), but let's be clear, if we drop so deep and stand off against a better team, they punish us.
