[Poor language removed] date, tough match.
After our beloved FC E took only three matches this season to make everybody hurriedly review their season expectations, we have one of the two toughest fixtures at Goodison Park this season.
Disbelief and disillusion reigned supreme on here last weekend when we tonked Villa all over the show and managed to come away with no points. Weird to see the trend on here, then, turn this week into hushed optimism as with the way Everton are domination possession in our matches it's only a matter of time before we remember how to score isn't it? Who knows, lets hope that Saha has a hot tub full of leaches to spend the week in after managing eleven minutes as a sub for France before getting injured.
There is no need for introductions with the United team, they have some really top players. Notably at present, Scholes is getting the brogue wearing national media erect, Rooney looks like he's waking from his summer slumber and even Berbatov looked dangerous indeed against West Ham last week. They will be formidable and no mistake.
However, far removed from when you used to compare the squads on the back of the programme for the best part of twenty years and just know that United would bum us, present days show a closing of the quality. We've also got a couple of results in the same fixture in the past couple of seasons, Neville's mini-Brock-moment tackle on long neck and famously Rodwell showing a fine torso (although possible too many visible tendons) with a fine third last season. Anyway, who knows with Everton.
Providing the international games don't cause any of players limbs to fall off, then Moyes certainly has plenty to think of on who is going to start. You would presume the defence will stay similar, as Coleman and Heitinga don't look too likely to play into Moyes' affections too soon. On the right of midfield is where the debate will be, Anichebe has suddenly morphed into a Drogba and Ruel Fox lovechild in the opinions of some. I always preferred Andy Sinton, if anyone's arsed. And up front its the Saha v Beckford v Yakubu triangle of meh. I think the Villa game showed that Beckford just isn't ready at this level and would be far more effective as a sub and so it should come down to whoever is fittest/has the least titty lip in training out of Saha and Yakubu.
What's usually a nice contributor to these games is an aled up and angry Goodison for such tense occasions, despite the early kick off.
What would be nice for a much missed wave of optimism to be spreading over these parts post 3pm this Saturday. Come on Everton.
