Okay, I get Martinez likes to play a winger on one wing and a wide midfielder/attacking mid on the other, it worked rather well for us last season. However, what I don't understand is how Osman gets in ahead of Pienaar on the left. Unless Pienaar's still carrying a knock or something.

ha. i would be very surprised if robles was at fault for about 10 dropped points this season. he would have caught gerrard's free kick with his mouth!

Atsu over osman on the wing EVERY DAY.

Besides hull are crap and Atsu hasn't exactly had much of a chance to prove himself.

I disagree with playing players out of position needlessly.

I'm sure Atsu has had more than a chance in training to prove to Martinez that he is ready to start games. The little we have seen of him in games, he has been beyond terrible. I also agree that playing players out of position needlessly is not the greatest idea, i also have to point out that playing players who have proved to be woeful so far, completely out of form and offer nothing to the team (atsu), in a game that we simply have to collect 3 points is probably even worse.

Osman over Atsu

Spot on

Starting to get on my tits this now, Play McGeady for a run of games, At least give the lad a chance to get some form, Its one game in then dropped for three
I'm not convinced by Atsu but no idea why McGeady is on the bench again assuming he is fully fit.

He was playing every game for us over the last spell between internationals and I thought he was improving (Lille and Sunderland especially)

Martinez doesn't think McGeady does enough imo.

McGeady has had this very issue hamper his game since his Celtic days. Was he signed without being watched first? That would be the case if Martinez only realises it now.

I completely understand playing Osman as wingers don't tend to bring out the best in Baines, but agree that if we don't see Atsu now then when will we?

Exactly this. It seems Martinez wants to move more towards all width being supplied by our full backs and being narrow in attack.

I'm happy with teamsheet. I probably would have preferred Osman in for Barry and McGeady playing but it looks like there might be a good chance Ross will play in the center. If so I'm happy.

Harsh on Atsu as I think he deserves a chance at a start, he's looked pretty nippy in his very brief recent appearances.

As for McGeady who in Martinez's words has the skill that only "the football's elite" have, if he cant get a game in his natural position over old man ossie.. well.. somethings not right

For the record I don't want to see three people prone to giving the ball away whoever we play, puts too much pressure on the Centre mids. So for me it's easy enough

Eto'o or Lukaku
Barkley or Naismith
Mirallas or McGeady or Atsu
Pienaar or Osman
