Ings is a very good striker but spending £50 million on him would be genuinely bizarre. We already have two players consistently performing very well up front, and have Moise Kean as a promising back up.

If you’re trying to improve your team surely you invest the most into the areas where you have clear problems?

No, no, no, we invest a massive sum into a forward and have what no top-end team in Europe have, 4 stikers competing for the first team.
 
Well, everyone knows how much easier the summer transfer window is.

The lad Allan, on the face of it, looks exactly the type of signing we shouldn't even give a seconds consideration.

He's basically 30. He doesn't score goals. He'd cost an absolute fortune in fees and wages. He has no experience of the physicality of English football.

An enormous risk.

I've never even seen him play tbh. But apparently Carlo rates him as top draw.

It doesn't have to be him. But a really top draw CM is required!

He's almost guaranteed to be a worse player at the end of his contract than when we sign him. So I'd suggest not doing that or any deal where a similar thing is true.
