I feel like his best position was always off the striker though. He was a menace in the box.

Hmm, I do like Doucoure but yeah he is limited.
If it's for a decent fee I'm happy though if he's one of two coming in.
He's scored 7, 5 and then 4 league goals in the last three seasons.
Bar Sigurdsson in 2018-19, we've had no midfielder who has come close to scoring that many.
Depends what we're after like. He's not exactly 'creative' but does add a threat. He wouldn't really be great just in there with Gomes though so we'd definitely need another.

There's a load of talk about Sangare but he was pretty crap this last season.
Yeah, he's young, and I'd be happy if he came in, but it just doesn't seem like we've ever been interested. If we were, there's a deal there to be done which we could have done swiftly (relatively, like) - it seems strange that if we didn't have reservations we wouldn't have just gone for him.

We would have spent roughly 75m on our midfield in Gomes, Allan and Doucoure and it won't even be close to competitive with the top sides. It isn't great.
He was pretty much a nightmare for the opposition wherever he played. His size, coupled with his work rate and willingness to get stuck him made him effective in all the midfield roles he played.
It sometimes didn’t look fancy, but he got the job done.
