Tell that to Barkley, Rom and Stones who are going to start getting itchy feet at the prospect of being stuck in another struggling team.

How do you know we will struggle? Do you think we'll have brought in no one before the season starts? Funny how all the Lukaku talk has died down since Moshiri and Koeman came in.

Tbb the lack of signings is due to Koeman checking out the players and who he can work with and finding outhe what we need. For example
Is stones staying or going so we don't know what type of defender we need

Is lukaku staying or going? Do we need a backup or main striker

Where does he put barkley

Does he rate our wingersite

Not having this excuse anymore, it's worse than "the Euros are still on mate". You don't need a week in Austria "assessing" the squad to see that we need a first team goalkeeper

The defence is the club doesn't have to work to some timeline that impatient panicky fans have made up in their head.

There will be signings by the close of the transfer window, that should be enough for you and all the other stress merchants.

Stating that there is no defence for the club not matching your exact requirements to have signed first team players by July 18th is more than just a little bit ridiculous.
No one is saying they need to sign the players now to appease the fans. In fact I was getting worried they may sign Wijnaldum for that reason.

I just had a problem with people starting to take the position that our squad is strong enough or almost strong enough. It's not and not even close.

Maybe he has been told to shut his mouth and he will get his move. Who knows? At this point all we are doing is speculating either way.

So you're telling me you hope we gut the whole team because unless we do it will be a Martinez repeat?

This is the exact same team we were praising in Bob's first year, and even then we knew we needed some additions. Now that we seem to actually be going for them people are getting angsty because it's been 2 weeks and we haven't signed 5 players yet?

Is this what money's done to us, seriously?
You're conflating two separate issues here. I'm not bothered about there being no activity yet, as there's still a bit of time before the season starts.

I've been saying for a long time that I want to see the back of the majority of this squad, and a seven game run that briefly shot them up the league two years ago - after which they managed to throw away fourth place anyway - isn't going to change that.

Are the posts with regards to us "not having money" or "we are just the same old everton" just wind ups and sarcastic or is this generally peoples opinion?

People are saying that though. Zat is, in particular. I replied to Zat........I think..

He can't be any worse than Martinez. Osman Pienaar Hibbert barely played last season and Howard was a known liability. Hardly an insurmountable loss.

We're 4 players down: experienced players that could come in the first team and do a job. Granted, a job that was only good enough to get us mid-table, but now we don't even have that.

4 players down is 4 players down.

The point is we're leaving it last-minute again: it's a big reason why we often start seasons slower than our rivals.

There's no logical reason why we are slower than everyone else in securing signings.

Plus we've lost mainstay squad players due to retirement: Howard, Osman, Hibbert, Pienaar...they need replacing and urgently.

Last three played approximately 10-12 games between them last season, they are more than adequately replaced by Davies, Dowell, Pennington etc. Goalkeeper is an obvious area for strengthening. And we will.

Really. You think we can compete with the likes of Utd who are just about to blow 100m on Pogba.

Can I ask why you think that?

To improve a squad in order to improve the chances of winning a trophy & competing at the top end of the table we need to spend more money.

The business plan as such will be focus on three areas (i) to progress us up the league of wage spenders (ii) bridge the current income gap through bringing players through the academy and (iii) develop the academy and our recruiting to generate future profits from player trading.

Looking at the first point we look to match the spend of Spurs initially and then to continue to progress our spending as new streams of revenue are created from sponsorship, commercial revenues and ultimately our new stadium.

I wrote a while ago that the biggest 6 clubs financially will between them generate £4-5 bn in extra revenues over the next 5 years. Not all of that will go on salaries. Much will be reinvested in their clubs or be returned to shareholders. So we have a huge challenge ahead of us. We won't bridge all of that income gap but we will generate sufficient levels of income to compete.

If Moshiri did not believe we could compete why would he have acquired his shareholding in us (with further share acquisitions ahead) ?
