But that's not realistic is it?

Because if we lose Rom we wouldn't just leave it and not bother getting a new striker would we?

The squad in it's current form has Lukaku in it.

And a new manager that should be capable of getting the best out of what is a good squad.

Some players do need shifting, but not many. We don't need a huge turn-around in players, in fact IMO it's the last thing we need.

We need a few quality additions (e.g. Mata, Witsel, dependable back-up striker (hard to find), and a goalkeeper) to add to what we already have.

Then, if Stones is sold (looks likely) we'll obviously need a quality replacement. If Rom is sold, we then need a quality replacement - but I genuinely think Rom will be here when the window closes. The only sides I can now realistically see making a bid for him are Arsenal or PSG (and I think with Emery there even that is now up in the air), unless Napoli go mental with the money they may get for Higuain...

It has changed. It has been proven that good team spirit, organisation and tactics can be more telling than expensive players. I'm hoping Koeman will bring these qualities.
You do realize Leicesters tactics basically were camp in their own box and hit balls to Mahrez and Vardy on the break. There's no way our fans would allow us to play like that.

Plus Leicester had some really good players in the right positions. Both their CBs, Kante, Vardy and Mahrez would have walked on to any team last year. We had Rom and that's about it.

Yes team spirit and organization were good but Leicester also had a great team and their good players in the right positions.

One or two people on City Forums saying the Stones deal is dragging as Bony is part of it and we want City to pay some of his wages (assuming similar to Adebayor to Spurs transfer). He is supposedly on £100k a week with £20k for every game he plays and i'd have thought we could afford that now but maybe we don't want to pay him £100k a week when he hasn't exactly set the world alight.

I would like him here tbh, very similar to Lukaku but with better hold up play and can play on his own too. Both of them upfront would be such a handful.

And how do Citeh fans know whats going on at EFC, we don't?

we'd deffo need another forward, but the fact is the squad was in its form because of the manager (or largely, obviously the players share some of the blame).

Koeman isn't inheriting a bad squad though. He's inherited one that's under performed. There's a large difference
No it wasn't. Martinez cost us a few places but Chelsea, City, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester, Liverpool and even probably West Ham all had stronger squads than us.

If Martinez had done his job we would have come around 8th or 9th. We finished 11th. Martinez was a clown but don't kid yourself that this squad is good enough and it's a year older and we have a couple of big players nearing the end of their careers. Jags was our only competent defender and Barry was our player of the season.

You're wrong mate.

Leicester were absolutely superb last season. Towards the end of the campaign they had to change their style to be more of that 'camping deep' side, but at the start they were a joy to watch.

I said it at the time, and I covered the first 12 games of Leicester's season last year for work (just seemingly got stuck with them), and while I never imagined they'd achieve what they did, they were playing some sublime football at times.

I'm not saying we'd have qualified for CL or anything lad, but our squad was probably stronger than Sotton's, West Ham's, Leicester's, Stoke's, and definitely comparable with Liverpool's.

I defended RM but he messed up big style, and while we wouldn't have been top four, I do think we should have easily been challenging for top 6.

The squad lacks depth and balance. Lots of left backs and CMs, 3 right wingers, no natural left winger. No decent cover for Rom or Seamus, I could go on.

We have some cracking players but the squad needs a lot of strengthening.
