Duffy is currently in France part of the Ireland squad, I'd say that's stepping up.

Being good enough for the ireland team isn't a bench mark considering half of them aren't even in top flight football.

Deulofeu has a big future ahead of him and will be world class. Mata is good but he won't get any better and he doesn't work hard enough. Mata didn't make the Euros because he's not really any use. Just a luxury player.

Deulofeu was failing to make the Everton first 11 because of his inability to track back and adequately defend. Lennon was keeping him out the side. Meanwhile Mata was providing a very good return to Manchester United whilst playing on the right.

I'm not convinced Barkley is ready to drop into CM yet. I think Deulofeu will be best off used as an impact sub. It will be no surprise to me if he once again fails to hold down a first team place next season. I think Mata would be a much better option on the right.

No, they won't. But it's indicative that prices are going to be through the roof this summer. It's not like Leicester plucked that number out of the air, they were knocked back at £25m.

So to talk about £15m for a player like Mata is a BIT on the optimistic side

Not really mate, do i think Mata would go for a lot more than 15m - yeah ofc so, he is a quality - world class player, and his value is clearly worth 25-30m, is that because Deeney is potentially going for 25-30m - no ofc not, just like Andy caroll going for 35m didnt mean that Lukaku would cost us 50m when we bought him, sometimes a team just spunks money away stupidly on a bang average player, it very rarely sets a prescedent for how the market is going to be across the board.

For example - Spurs just bought Wanyama for 11m - low cos he had one year left on his contract, does that set the price for all domestic players with 1 year left on their deals - nah it's just what the two clubs arranged.

Deeney is a player watford rate stupidly highly, club captain etc, and a player Leicester have obviously set their stall on getting, hence his price keeps going up and up etc, a lot better players will go for less than he does.

He isn't a right winger, pretty much shown that everywhere he's been. He'd play as an attacking midfielder, and tbh he's a significant upgrade on Barkley at the moment unless he starts showing some sort of consistency

He played on the right in the vast majority of United games last season, he did a good job there too, far better than any of our right midfielders.

No.... Seriously we need to start signing players major squad overhaul needed.

With Howard, Hibbert, Osman, Pienaar that I can think of, off the top of my head gone and positions that desperately need filling would like to think that some signings are imminent. And if stones and lukaku are off it puts us in an even more desperate position to sign players.

Come on Koeman holidays are over now bloody sign someone the money must be burning a hole in your pocket.

Why buy a player and use him in a position he is only 90% the player in though, yes he is still very good played right, but he is genuinely brilliant played in the number 10 role

Deulofeu was dropped because the manager couldnt set a team up too defend mate - thus going for Lennon who worked harder naturally - because the manger had no ability to train players and get them fit for purpose defensively

Barkley will never be ready to drop into cm if we keep ,playing him as a number 10 and never actually take the plunge and start to play him their, now we have someone who actually will coach him on the defensive side and get him fully fit, we may see a lot more of him their, but trying to shoehorn ross into a playmaker role - is wasting half of what makes him a special talent - getting on the ball and dribving at players and also puts pressure on some of his weaker parts of the game, quick decision making, get a truly top class centre mid alongside ross, get him coached and fit properly and if hes as good as we think and hope then he will shine their

hibbert replaced by kenny, osman replaced by davies and pienaar replaced by dowell. All 3 would be worthy of filling their voids imo. They were all bit part players last season, it's not too much to ask those youngsters to do just that as their first phase of development in the first team.

Reckon we'll buy two keepers to go with robles.

This is what is confusing me about it a bit. I'd be surprised (and sad) if he was bought to take the central or right sided spots from Ross or Del respectively.

Mata did play on the left much earlier in his career but has I think come out and said recently that he wants to play centrally. I don't get it. Cracking player but no idea what the plan would be.

I thought this, only way I could see him on the left would be in bobbys system, drifting in and playing fairly close to the striker

Mata isn't a luxury player to me but a pivotal player.
He isn't someone you don't shoe horn in but work around.
Bottom line a proper player who can win you games.
