Everton, tactically

One of the main things I want to see from Everton in general is better, more patient passing around the oppo box. The number of times we get in good positions and then someone ruins it by trying to play a ridiculous ball. Short passing is the way forward. Honestly, I wish Steve Round was standing at the cornerflag for the whole game saying, "Pass, pass, pass, pass...".

We still have too many players who just lay the ball off and run towards the box, looking to get on the end of things. There's very few players who want to be involved in the build up and look to link up.

When a player has possession of the ball players should be offering him support, moving into space and giving him passing options. Which is why Arteta should play infront of the back four and not in this mythical 'number 10' position people want to deploy him in.

HE DOES NOT PLAY HIGH UP THE PITCH!

It's been mentioned on here a few times that we bring everyone back for corners...much the samer as that master tactician Walter Smith. Man U's second goal today showed the benefit in not bringing all 10 players back. We have the players to counter attack now. Saha could make the run Rooney did and Donovan could run the wing the way Nani did. Unfortunately it is our manager that is far too negative to allow us to do that!

Man U ALWAYS wins the ball if it comes back to the middle. That makes it possible for them to release players early on the counter attack, knowing they won't lose possession in a bad spot. Donovan thrives on the transition game (see Brazil goal Confeds Cup).

I expect Saha does a good job as well. Does Moyes believe they can release players without too much risk? Can Arteta push up and win the ball if it is cut out? or Pienaar? Perhaps Osman. I expect Moyes trusts Fellainni for this but it takes more than one player who can do it nearly 100% of the time.

The Toffees are on a roll and are winning points on heart and confidence as well as football. Moyes probably doesn't want to mess it up too much.
