No, he's not, but he's a cracking one and we have him in our squad. The players we have been linked to are orders of magnitude worse. Yes, they might play a few more games but if they don't impact upon those games what's the point. Every time we get a genuinely top level player people in here want rid and those same people then champion utter dross like Townsend. We get what we deserve.

Name three that we could attract and afford that have anything like the output of James.

What you are suggesting is that we will almost certainly be able to shift Kenny, Delph, Sigurdsson, Tosun, Simms, Bernard, Gordon and Kean (the players missing from your list). We haven't been able to shift that many players in 2 years but we're suddenly going to be able to do it in a window where clubs finances have been shattered by covid? We will shift 2 or 3 from that list the rest will still be here on their massive wages.

If it was a straight choice of James or Bailey which do you choose?

Of course you want both but lets say you could only choose one...

James, based on the fact that as good as Bailey is I think there's more players of his type around that Everton can attract whereas James is one of a kind good.

Now, there's probably more long-term pros to Bailey.

But it shouldn't be a straight shoot out between the two if we manage the squad correctly.

We cannot keep getting rid of our best players and expecting progress.

People point to Leicester, but they do that while already having a lot of other good players they keep.

Southampton found out the hard way when their talent ran out, for example.

Pereira isn't anywhere near James' ability, a tidy little player but not even close.
Coutinho, maybe, but he had two major injuries last season so I don't know how you can include him as an example of a player that will always be fit.
Bailey's a winger, not a replacement for James.

Raphina at Leeds is a great little player but will get a "bigger" club transfer.

Now we have the chance of getting some grafters in the same people moan saying they want mavericks who'll play when they feel like it! lol

I find it wild that people think the players didn't fight last year because we were so awful tactically and talent wise at times that they'd have literally lost every game if they didn't care.

I remember them all well, but I think the Bailey hype is been the biggest.

I personally quite like Dwight McNeil, but I'm not convinced we will be able to sign either of them. I'm not sure we can afford the players we need based on our early business.
