Pickford
Coleman/Godfrey
Mina
Keane
Digne
Allan
Doucoure
Gomes
James
DCL
Ricarlison
That was the starting line up at the start of the season when everybody was fit
Replace Coleman with Godfrey and tell me which of the outfield 10 are worse than Pickford
Allowing RB will be the first priority this summer
that should have read *is he the worst bad player in the squad.

It’s a squad game I guess. If we’re also allowing for injuries, fatigue and bad form then maybe yeah sign a GK but unfortch the starting XI changes. The issue with us atm IMHO is not squad depth but squad gulf. As I say I’d sign RB, CM good enough to start and a ST/Winger good enough to start but also happy to rotate... if we had three

Then you’ve got great options off the bench - and when you’re picking the team - in almost every position.

Only then would I sign a GK, and only then a CB.

Also got to keep in mind those that are leaving or might want to leave (Moise).

Class player but too old at 32?

Manuel Akanji is a player and could be the CB needed to push us to the next level. Him and Godfrey as a CB pairing would be dreamy and we could play a higher line for sure.

I don't know why as every time I've watched him play he's been below par, but I like the look of Dahoud. Maybe it's the small socks vibes

Sorry about that

I do think we are lacking a proper first choice CB from that bunch. The big ball winning unit who commands the back four and midfield. The Ramos, the Thiago Silva, the Dias. The guy who you play every game of the year and who takes you to the next level. Don't think Keane or Mina are that guy unfortch.

I would have thought that one would get the CB and the GK last - they complete the puzzle, and I actually think there are more pressing areas to recruit to (ST, RB, CM)... but if a CB were to become available, would you?

Please no "you don't think GK is a priority?" responses

I'd move on everyone not listed:

GK: Pickford / Virginia
RB:
RCB: Mina / Holgate
LCB: Godfrey / Keane / Branthwaite
LB: Digne / Nkounkou
CM: Allan / Davies
CM : Doucoure / Onyango / Gbamin
CM: Sigurdsson / Gomes
RF: James / Iwobi
CF: DCL / Kean
LF: Richarlison / King / Gordon

Thats 23 players

GK: We need a first choice to come in. If we get Europe then i'd probably keep Pickford and rotate both for a season as the new keeper will likely be from overseas so could need to settle in.

RB: We need a first choice with Holgate to cover (he can cover across defence)

RCB: Find another prospect like Branthwaite or an experienced player 30+.

LCB: Sell Keane and promote Branthwaite behind Godfrey.

CM: Move James centrally and sign another midfielder in place of Gomes/Sigurdsson.

RF: Sell Iwobi and sign a top starter so James can switch centrally.

CF: Make a decision on Kean if a big bid comes in.

GK: ??? / Pickford / Virginia
RB: ??? / Holgate
RCB: Mina / ???
LCB: Godfrey / Branthwaite
LB: Digne / Nkounkou
CM: Allan / Davies / Gbamin
CM: Doucoure / Onyango
CM: James / ???
RF: ??? / King
CF: DCL / Kean
LF: Richarlison / Gordon

From sales we'd probably fetch £100mil.

If we manage top 4 id go for Donnarumma and Ramos on frees -- see if Ancelotti can bring them into the fold.

Also id try for Bellingham from Dortmund if they are open to sell. He'll be a top player.

Right back and and right forward also needed.

Without top 4 there would be less upgrades as we wouldnt have much chance of Donnarumma or Ramos (however unlikely anyway).

If we dont want to make too many changes then we need 4 players...

GK: Donnarumma
RB: Emerson
RF: Antony
CM: Bellingham

Add those on top of what we have now and we'd be looking not only strong for the long term but also very, very exciting.

So you'd move on Olsen to keep a terrible GK and someone who couldn't hack it at Reading. I appreciate Virginia is still a prospect but he's got to prove it some time before making him a part of the squad.

Why the hell would we sell Keane to keep Mina? I know you don't want to admit defeat here but Mina just has too many errors in him to let Keane go instead. I'd not sell either but reality right now is if one is going it is Yerry. I'm not sold on Godfrey at CB yet so my suggestion would be wait another season as the 4 CBs we have are plenty good enough.

If James is playing centrally for us it will not be in a 4-3-3. I'd like to see him central too but we have to use a shape where there is two true holding players behind him and two wingers ready to drop in if we want to do that. Or we can find a Kante level stopper to play the #6 role. But that is hard.

If we dont want to make too many changes then we need 4 players...

GK: Donnarumma
RB: Emerson
RF: Antony
CM: Bellingham

Add those on top of what we have now and we'd be looking not only strong for the long term but also very, very exciting.

GK: Donnaruma won't be joining us.
RB: Emerson not convinced. Barca have been crap + Semedo was their RB last year and look how whopping he's been for Wovles.
RF: Antony gonna take more than 19 appearances in a farmers league to judge whether he's the real deal.
CM: Bellingham was bought for 25m last summer and won't be leaving one year later. Very young and raw still.

would be too risky, Antony and bellingham will be high risk, high price, emerson in my opinion is not as good as everyone makes him out to be, donnarumma, i would love him here.

Mate, you need to take into account that @Zatara just wants to fill the team full of under21 South American players. We can't do that due to a) work permit issues. b) the fact that if we did when all those players went off on international games on return we would have a whole team full of jet lagged players who could'nt play in the next game due to fatigue. Agree on Emerson, there are better options more suited to us.

Scrap internationals i say, pointless, waist of time and money, they are all boring as well! ;)
