Since Brands arrived, the only not top 4 league player we signed was Bernard, and that’s only because he was free. I like Brands, but he doesn’t really seem to try to find the next one before they cost a premium.

Well that’s not true. Just looking at Everton midfielders signed last summer, we brought in Doucoure and Allan for similar fees. That’s without even trying to find value other clubs brought in.
