Tierney may be a Celtic fan, but football is a short career. Staying loyal to Celtic could come at a huge cost.
The difference between the salaries paid in Scotland and by a club like Everton in the premiership will probably be a couple of million a year. That could mean a difference of minimum 10m over the life of a contract.
While Tierney plays in Scotland there will always be question marks over his ability to perform on a bigger stage... because of the lack of competition in Scotland.
The opportunity for Tierney to move will not last forever, injuries, loss of form for a season and the chance could pass him by.
Obviously he is still only 21, but is an experienced player already.
I think an offer from the premiership will be hard to refuse for Celtic or the player. I think it will be a club like Everton that will buy him and can let him settle while he alternates with Baines.
I am not sure any of the top four will spend 20m on a reserve full back with very little pedigree.
