It's a one team pub league. Celtic would be lucky to finish in the top half of the Premier League. They are a big fish in a very tiny, irrelevent pond.
I wouldn't call it a pub league and a lot of the Scottish lads I played football with in the military were really good players. Scotland has given football some great players over the years.
However their league is a victim of the vast change from football being a sport and in to a business. Their league has been left behind a bit.
Celtic keep having a bite of 'champions' league football which gives them exposure which in turn gives them the impression that they are relevant in a wider sense which I don't think they are, which isn't a dig at them.
They're a fine club, with great history and tradition but they're a victim of the geography.
They live in a beautiful cage.

They, like most of Europe, are fodder for relevant leagues to feed upon in the Champions League. Once in a while they pull off a big win.

They have a rich history...no doubt about it. However, every year as the league fades into further irrelevance, they will be a feeder club for bigger league clubs. The best team in a one team lower level league.

Everton want Kieran Tierney asking price as they prepare £25m move after Premier League rivals Tottenham join race for highly rated Celtic defender
  • Everton and Tottenham are set to fight it out for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney
  • The Toffees are preparing a £25million bid for the Hoop star this summer
  • Spurs hope Champions League football will tempt Tierney to London
  • Brendan Rodgers has also admitted he would not stop him moving to England

Everton will this week try to ascertain Celtic's asking price for Kieran Tierney - with Tottenham now joining the queue of potential suitors for the player.
Back on Merseyside on Monday for the start of pre-season training, Toffees boss Marco Silva has identified the signing of the full-back as a priority, with £25million of his budget earmarked for the deal.
While both Wolves and Bournemouth have the means to match that figure, they are unlikely to appeal to the player as he plots his future.

Kieran Tierney is wanted by a number of English clubs this summer, including Everton
With Champions League football next season, Tottenham, however, are a different proposition.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino sees Tierney as the kind of asset who could turn his side into genuine title contenders. Although he would need to sell Danny Rose before making his move.
Last week, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said he would not try to talk Tierney out of a move to England, given his 'moral' obligation is to ensure he progresses at the fastest rate possible.
A die-hard Celtic fan who recently signed a six-year deal with his boyhood heroes, Tierney, 21, has spoken of his desire to become one of Celtic's great one-club men.

Tottenham are also keen the Hoops man (left) with Everton looking to bid £25m for him
But with the chance to at least double his wages in England and Celtic unable to resist astronomical offers for a player who came through their academy, he may yet move on.
Kristoffer Ajer fully understands the growing interest in his team-mate but hopes he can stay for the time being.
'I'm not surprised,' he said. 'KT has been fantastic and has helped me a lot coming into the group. He's a fantastic full-back and it's great to play with him.

Brendan Rodgers (right) has even admitted he would not stop the defender moving to England
'He knows a lot about the club and its history. It's just nice to see such a big Celtic fan playing for the team.
'When you play for Celtic, do well and have won the Treble twice, there is always going to be interest in you. But when you play for such a massive club, it's a fantastic place to be.
'He's been tremendous for us and has proved himself over a number of seasons. So, yes, of course we are desperate for this group to stay together.
'KT is an important player in the squad and we want him to stay.'

Don’t piss about this week if Spurs are genuinely after the boy.

Don’t even give them a sniff.
Spurs were linked yesterday somewhere as well. Always thought they’d get involved as they’re actively looking for a left back apparently. All not well between Spurs and Danny Rose and they’re trying to get rid.

This is the problem we’re gonna have if we’re waiting to get people out before bringing people in. Anything that leaks will just give others time to join the party. Risky strategy!

I get the squad needs trimming, but a left back especially is needed regardless. Just get him in and any other player we see as a priority, and then concentrate on getting others out the door before the window closes. There’ll be plenty of interest in our fringe players towards the end of the window, but we can’t afford to wait until then to get ours in.

25-1 Spurs on skybet, just stuck a sneaky fiver on. Will soften the blow if it happens!

Can't see there being anything in the Spurs link while they have rose and Davies, both much better players

I think spurs will have trouble shifting rose, what is 28? Had injuries will probably want 100k a week. And levy always wants top dollar for his players
