Given the people who have reported it, it isn't just a rumour.

I'd imagine that we have been in touch with Tierney's reps and, probably, an informal testing of the waters to Celtic.

We'll see whether anything comes of it.

He'd be a great signing if it came off.

I understand where you're coming from but what we pay isn't influenced by us so I don't see the point in us discussing it. Should be focused more on are they good, where do they fit in, are there better options out there etc.

While I'd understand concerns over the fees, Tierney is worth £25m considering:

A) His quality
B) His contract situation
C) His age/potential

If he's our top target and we have a certain level we're willing to go up to (it may be £30m it may be more or less) then why not pay it?

He's as good as Plattenhardt in Germany - and I'd be happy with him as a left-back btw - but five years younger. I think he'd fit the club perfectly. He'd be a perfect long-term replacement in the shape of Baines and he's already proved he has leadership qualities.

Personally, I'd be happy to see us pay £30m for him. Yes, probably a bit over what I'd like us to go to but ultimately it's a seller's market. And Tierney is a very good player with the potential to become much more than that.
