Waddy

Player Valuation: £6m
What type of fan are you? Do you want our players to excel in South Africa for their teams, excel to a point where they are major headlines or would you prefer them to have good solid performances but stay under the media radar?

Say if Peanuts had a superb WC, scored loads and each game turned it around and got South Africa well into the comp. He would have loads of teams knocking on the door with hefty lumps of cash to tempt us into selling him. It could also have the Klingon effect (Lescott) where they unsettle the player with talk of huge wages so he requests to leave.

I am really on the fence with it to be honest. I know that as long as we have the current people in charge of Everton we will always have to sell players to buy better players which Moyes has targetted. I just hope if anything does happen to any of our WC players they take the same stance as they did with the kilngon tit and squeeze them for every single penny even though they are worth nothing like.

I think as of now I would like each Everton player to have a good solid WC and stay under the radar of other clubs by letting others shine through.

I wonder what the Everton Board want??

I wouldn't want it to happen, but if Pienaar is sold, then we'd have some money to buy new people.

I'd like to see them all have a good world cup and return injury free and ready to help us win something big next season. If some are tempted by the illusion of moving to a bigger club we will move on, maybe we will find another legend for ourselves at the world cup. It's happened before.

Jesus. Why not slit your wrists.

Why not have abit of faith in EFC being a big club (which it is) and not worry about it.

Do you think Moyes is? No I don't think he is. Because the better our players shine, the more other players want to come here because they know that they'll shine too.

I had faith in Everton and Moyes when they said Lescott wasnt going anywhere, I didnt think he would. In the end I was happy with the fee we got and the way EFC handled it.
But if you're sure thats never gona happen again, thats good enough for me.
Someone lock the thread, its done.

If players can't progress with their careers here, and become internationals - why would they come here?

Lescott said he was going to City to cement that. He's the idiot who's not going to the world cup now.

Players shining at any level - is a good advertisement for Everton.

It means we have a bigger selection of players to bring in because it makes the club attractive to them.

It's short sighted to say we don't want them to shine. WE ALWAYS WANT EVERTON PLAYERS TO SHINE. The club motto is Nil Satis Nisi Optimum.

I'd be more gutted that we didn't have any players going.

Instead we have players in every position these days on the pitch that would or could be there.

That says something. It says Everton's got a strong squad and good players.

Thats the attraction to us signing players.

Its how we'll make Everton a household name again across the world post-Heysel... and the ban.

Quality players everywhere at Everton.

However in the real world we cannot compete with a) Wages and b) transfers. Which is the reason Lescott left at the end of the day, double plus his wages.
I doubt in reality many players at any club would say no to a huge pay rise like that. In many ways I wouldnt blame them.

At the end of the day I dont want ANY Everton players to leave the club, I think we have a superb squad for next season already, all I am saying is that its possible if one of our players had a blinding WC then it could lead to a club making an offer? Agreed? It is possible right? Its happened before?

I dont give 2 shits about the WC, I will support England as always but I do give 2 shits about Everton in the prem next season and would hate to see any of our current squad depart. Yes, maybe its negative to talk about it but its a forum, to discuss things, thus why I posted it.

Couldn't agree more mate.

With the bubble bursting - yes we can.

That is the real world Waddy. We have a £100million turnover.

Don't mistake keeping a grip of wage:turnover as the inability to pay wages.

Its a concious decision to do so. OTHER clubs are going into massive debt to fund transfers they can't afford. Long term they'll fall by the wayside. Aston Villa will be first along with Liverpool.... Just illustrations.

And we can also keep hold of players otherwise ... whats the ****ing point?

Moyes would have gone long ago if that were the case. But its not.

Thats real world.

A player having a good tournament helps to raise the profile of the club internationally. Think Lineker or Rooney.

We haven't got that many going, have we? Howard, Baines (hopefully), Heitinga, Cahill, Pienaar, Senderos, Anichebe, Yakubu, Yobo, Saha (possibly)...more than I first thought.

On the down side players like Howard, Baines and Pienaar have played a lot of football this year and are likely to be quite fatigued by the end of the summer.

Speaking more positively, the clubs that we're chasing in the league are likely to have a lot more players there, which could mean that they start the season sluggishly. If we can come out of the blocks next time, we could be at a real advantage. Jagielka, Arteta, Bily, Osman, Fellaini and Neville will all be fresh and raring to go come September.

I'll wager that, with Moyes out there for the beeb, he scouts a player from some far-flung place and snaps him up for a bargain price. Maybe it'll be a rough diamond african striker or a south american playmaker.

While I do understand a fan that's afraid that players might leave if they have a good WC experience, I wish the best for all our players there. If one of our players goes far and have a great show in the WC it will show other players that we're after that you can get very far if you play for us. You will develope and be in the eyes of your national coach for bigger tournaments.

And if someone will turn to us with the hope of signing one of our players, remember also that a good show in the WC will probably increase that players value since he will have shown he can compete at the highest international level.

I hope Timmy Howard has an AMAZING WC, he will need to for us to get through to the next round..
