Everton. Once again I hate you.

Now that there’s a new FM game out, the video game streamers and YouTubers are doing their “I simmed 100 or 500 or 1000 years into the future!” videos and Everton still hasn’t won anything and I’m like “yeah, that checks out”

I’ve said it before, but this is so true. Expectations are far too high. Some fans expect us to be challenging the top 4 whilst having a stadium to pay for & posting record losses. Some fans expectations are on a different planet. We had our chance 4 years ago, buy decent players, break into the top 4, increase revenues etc. We gambled & lost, big time. Add to this a string of failed Managers & staff that needed to be paid off. Now, its the stadium OR team. We can’t have both. Arsenal & Spurs have found this out….amongst others.
The sooner fans realise that we’re gonna have a few years of austerity, the better. We’re at least mid-table for the foreseeable future. The atmosphere isn’t good & it’s not helping. Do other teams around us make for such a bad atmosphere & are as hostile towards their own club? Most clubs fans know & manage expectation. Us? Think we should be challenging.
In reality, we have City, RS, Chelsea, a bad UTD team, West Ham, a bad Arsenal & Spurs, Leics & probably Brighton & Wolves that are better than us. That puts us @ 11th. Years of crap recruitment, players on big wages that arent good enough, together with a bad injury crisis has left us down to the bare bones. And some want the manager out? Who would we get that can have that team performing? One of the most decorated managers in the game had us 10th & the vast majority backed him to come good. Manage expectations, get behind the team. This atmosphere isn’t doing anyone any good.
same one i wanted for the last 10 year , BIG D

The disconnect has never been worse between club and supporters. Surely people around the club are aware of this, they can't possibly be that naive.

The manager is completely the wrong choice. The players lack effort and commitment, never mind quality.. The DOF has recruited extremely poorly. The academy is not producing. We spent so much we got into issues with financial regulations. We have a stadium coming, but a team not worthy to play in it. The board talk a good game but deliver next to nothing. The fans still sell out every week, but get nothing back in return.

Could we please hear from someone on the board, or the owner, on what the direction of the club is going forward. We hear nothing when things are going badly. We need to know what the plan is, because it appears that the ambitions of the board do not match the aspirations of the support. If they hired Benitez to coast along in lower midtable for a few years, then come out and say it. Stop talking nonsense about challenging the top 4 whilst doing nothing to back it up.

What gets me is how easily it could have gone the other way when Moshiri came in. If he'd have got lucky and appointed a good manager or DoF (or both), we could have been in a really good position by now. But no, that can't happen to Everton.

Thats true about 30 years. But even within those 30 years i felt some connection. I felt we went into games with some fight. And im even throwing in players like lee carsley. Marcus bent. Even kevin kilbane ffs. Thats along with your cahills, ferguson, baines. Loads more. I never felt the team had thrown it in even before the kick off.
I cant relate to any of this lot. Digne looks half arsed so many times. Iwobi. Forget that. Biggest fraud this clubs ever bought. Michael kean. I swear he apologies to centre forwards.
I feel zero connection to any players for the past 5/6 years.
Its difficult to put your finger on it. I think koeman started it. Atrocious manager who put no thought into signings. He created a club for players to earn big money here for no input. We also have brands. Who i think is not only nicking a living but doing some serious damage.
The club is rotten right now.

Yeah even when we were properly flirting with relegation you felt the players cared and gave their all at least. Also we were not that far removed from a bit of success back then so could assume that things will get better.

Right now we are just spinning our wheels and have been for such a long time that you start to go beyond caring. Been like that for a while really.

We have no real identity right now. No soul or anything.

Has anyone else resold their ticket to the club or a 'friend'?

I've yet again asked the club to sell it on but never explained why as they don't have the option for us to do so.

Despite not being able to the game for the best part of two seasons and time running out to watch us at Goodison, I am once again that disillusioned with the club I'd rather not go and support them for the time being. Nothing about the team or the manager has me excited to go and it's only going to get worse on Sunday. Not only that but prices are going up next season, in worrying time for our own purse strings when we're paying 'footballers' an absolutely galling amount of money per week.

I've just come to a depressing conclusion. If we do sack Benitez, what competent manager in their right mind, would want to come to this club? As the last 5 years have proved, this club is a basket case under Moshiris ownership. Throw in the fact that a new manager, won't be able to spend any substantial amounts of money either.

All the money we spent and 5 years down the line, we can't even fill out the subs bench with decent players. The saying a fool and his money, are easily parted comes to mind, when you look at the way Moshiri has run this club.

Spot on.

Relegation under this owner is inevitable as far as I’m concerned.

At least your teams in the NFL and NHL, have had recent success. Everton and the Habs, have a lot in common. Two institutions with a glorious history, who are now sadly an irrelevance in the modern era.

How about your hero Chris Wilder who you were touting for the job last year? Whatever happened to him? Moved on to bigger and better things I expect.
