Player Valuation: £100k
Next year.. some notable over 30s

Sylvain Distin - 37

Jagielka - 32

Osman - 33

Pienaar - 32

Alcaraz - 32

Howard - 35
Plus, you guys would have to return the 3 loanees back. I can see you guys going for Barry though. But even Barry would be 33 or 34 next season. I can't see Lukaku and Deulofeu returning.

Distin and Jagielka pretty much are your first choice centreback partnership. Distin is already 37. How much longer can he last? I'll be optimistic and say 2 seasons at most.

Osman is 33. Definetly a replacement has to be found for him.

Pienaar is also probably another guranteed starter.

Do you guys think you'll have a transition season?

I think you have just too many players to buy. You guys have to really get a striker soon. Lukaku will probably go back to Chelsea. I don't even think one striker is enough, if you want to compete in the Europa.

I think there could be one of sorts on the horizon but not next season. Sometimes you can be lucky tho, and everything falls into place and naturally adapts and re-builds itself.

We'v needed a striker for 9yrs so no change there. The likes of jags, Howard, Baines even Barry have enough in them to be part of the changing of the guard. Pienaar and Osman are already being replaced IMO and a new spine is already developing with our younger lads.

Personally think man utd have a bigger job on there hands. And where will Liverpool be if Gerrard and Suarez needed replacing!?

You raise some valid points but these same points also apply to several other teams in the league as well. Taking Liverpool for instance it looks likely you will have CL next season with the demand that brings on a currently small squad. You will need to improve it on a comparitively small budget given the issues with overspending and Financial Fair Play. Recently there have been problems getting players (Konoplyanka) or those you have purchased have not fitted in (Alberto, Aspas, Ilori, Borini) and you have not had much success with loans (Moses, Cissoko). Next season Gerrard will be 34, Sahko & Skrtel is probably your first choice CB pairing but you'll need to at least replace Toure, Mignolet is erratic, you need at least two full backs etc etc

Chelsea will need to find replacement for Terry, Cole, Lampard plus upgrade their strikeforce
City's weakness and lack of depth in defense has been exposed recently and they have few options in central midfield...

The advantage that all these sides over us is money but hopefully the extra TV money and the positive net spend ove the past few years will mean we are not as skint as usual

To address you specific points
Distin - yes he needs a replacement but I thought that at the start of the year and then saw him outsprint Aguero!
Alcaraz - if we get a future replacement for Distin then Alcaraz would be OK for 5th place cover
Jags - few years left in him and Stones looks to be his replacement

Osman - Barkley is usually selected in the big games but we do need a creative AM/CM
Pienaar - Poss back to SA in summer, def need replacement
Howard - had one of his better seasons, might get another year before replacing him either with Robles or a new keeper.

The loanees weren't here last season and we still beat Liverpool :)
Think there is a good chance we might sign Barry on a perm and gibson will hopefully be back fit.
If not Deulofeu think that we will get another loanee from Barca as it seems to have works out well for all parties.
Lukaku is unlikely (although I think we will make an offer for him) so we will need a good quality striker but we have been missing one for many years so it not a new issue.

Martinez seems to promote youth so think we'll see a combination of that, some new loans and a few purchases to fill the gaps and expand the squad for next year.

Good points you made there.. Stone looked awkward at rightback against us though.
Pienaar to SA is very unlikely. To a lesser league maybe like the MLS maybe so..

Barry would really demand high wages.. this is his last payday afterall.
I don't think you guys will get Lukaku. Even if you were to offer 20m for him...... Chelsea wouldn't sell to a team in the same league.. and...... I've never seen Everton spend 20m ... ever.. don't see that happening on one single player though.

kopite makes another thread........

Meh. Just a genuine debate. If you head over to RAWK and made the same thread with the same amount of respect i have for Everton fans, nobody will bash you for being a blue.
