Everton January transfer window 2021

DCL is the main centre forward

Richarlison has played plenty of games for Brazil and Everton at CF.

Kean is on the clubs books and is obviously a centre forward

Tosun is a centre forward in name

Simms was namechecked by Ancelotti as training with the first team and being ready to come in if needed...

Theres literally 5 centre forwards on the clubs books...for one starting position.

Its inarguable.
I mean i'm not even saying we need a centre forward, but that's just rubbish. It's arguable and we've argued it, but no worries, we'll pretend you're right.

That was always a given though. They key player for me is that 3rd man in midfield like a Fernandes etc that are more attainable in January than specialised positions such as a forward.

I agree, there's a few areas to prioritise, but really not sure that man in midfield is more important than an area that we have two players for, mate - and both of those start in different positions.

Ironcially, both could be out tonight - one definitely is and as it's a hamstring injury could be out for a while yet.

I think it depends what you class as 'panned out' really. I've said before, I think January signings are sometimes held to a higher standard than summer ones, with only people who become massive stars (like the 2 you mentioned) being classed as good business. Anyone who just comes in and improves their team and becomes a solid dependable player is just ignored in order to push the idea of January being a poor time to do deals. Someone who came in and just freshened things up and became a good squad option could make a huge difference to us this season.

As in longer term rather than just 4 months. Spending £30+mill on a player who does well for that time, then struggles for the rest and you can't sell/sell at a loss.

That's why it's a tough window for a striker.

Simms has done enough for a shot IMO.

Again, it's not a striker we actually need.

We need a versatile forward. I appreciate they are hard to come by, but it's not like we need an out and out 'back up' for Dom.

We need a player who can play anywhere across the line, who has pace and is direct - someone who runs with the ball.

Those players are out there. Quality costs, I understand that, but that type of player could get us top four this season.

No I'm not just talking about 4 months, and i'm not just talking about £30m+ players either, i'm not sure where those points have come from. I'm just saying sometimes players come in and do fine kind of under the radar, just as the majority of summer signings do. It's like people only count January signings as good if their value increases 15 times over, rather than them just being a decent signing in their own right.

Edouard at Celtic. I've only seen him a few times but he has all them attributes. Pretty fearless with the ball, causes hassle. I think he's bored up there as well. He would thrive in the Prem.

Yeah he's a decent player but not really someone you'd want to see playing wide.

We need a player who can fill in anywhere but isn't just a back up. They need to be a regular.

Everton fans are so stuck - and we saw this after our decent start - in this theory that you have to have one starting XI. You need quality options. That's how you improve, and start challenging on all fronts.

It's not the 80s anymore. We have an abysmal injury record and this season presented more challenges, yet more opportunities, than any other in a long time.

Agreed, we need to go out and find a right winger who can fill in either side but displace iwobi, play James centrally with Allan and Doucoure and get a new right back

Yeah, it's about having options.

If we have everybody fit there's probably three glaring places in our starting XI that need 'urgent' improvement - RB, GK (albeit Pickford has stepped up lately) and that third midfield spot.

However, we also need a player who can come into the squad and basically allow us to mix things up without any drop off.

For me, the player that allows us to do that even with the other midfielders etc we currently have is a pacy forward.

Gives us another outball, another goal threat. Allows us to play James central if needed but also takes the strain off Dom and Richarlison.

That player would have played 30 games minimum this season, if fit. It really wouldn't have been a case of them being a back up.

I honestly can’t see us doing any business in this window as we all know that players have to be shipped out Bolasie Besic Tosun Delph Bernard but there has not been a sniff of interest in these clowns, not only that their not exactly banging the door down to get out of the club either, so it’s we will go with what we’ve got scenario I’m afraid

I think with the likes of Besic and Bolasie they will go on deadline day or even might get released following deadline day, as they are not even in the squad and their contract ends in the summer, what is the point of keeping them round the training ground? I could see someone taking delph but only paying him part of the wages and us having to pay most of it. Bernard may go, there have been stories he is even prepared to take a pay cut to go to italy.

I think we may get some players in but i think it might be loans late in the window. I think unless we sell Kean or Kenny, we probably wont spend money on transfer fees
